Mike Scholl- Do you work the graveyard shift? What hours do you work? I work 11pm-7am. What is a typical eating schedule for you? Mine is very messed up. I graze a lot. Most of the time I am not even hungry and do not know why I eat. I know I need to increase my H20 intake. I also need to exercise.

Hi Sharon; Yes, I'm a fellow vampire of the graveyard shift. I work 11pm-7:30am (I have a 30 minute unpaid lunch period). I try to keep to a fairly regular schedule in my eating. When I get home from work about 8:30am, I drink a glass of 1% milk and take my vitamins and calcium and B12. I then go out for a couple of miles of fast walking with my wife and dog. When we return, I have breakfast (usually low-fat cottage cheese and fruit). I usually eat dinner with my family in the evening after I wake up. I bring my lunch to work with me and try to eat around 2am. Sometimes if we are having a busy night, I grab lunch when I can, but I try to be consistent about the timing for breakfast and lunch. I keep low-fat cheese sticks around in case I get in a bind. They have come in handy when I've been stuck in the field or had to work late. I also have a small (16 oz.) Nalgene water bottle that is always with me. It helps me make sure that I keep up on my water. I always make sure that I refill it when I get back to the office in case I need to run out again. I try to limit myself to de-caf coffee during the week. It helps my sleep not to be too wired on cafeine. I treat myself to a little real coffee on weekends even though it's an appetite stimulant. You've got to have a few vices after all!!! I'm struggling with grazing too, but I find if I get my water in and avoid the cafeine and keep up with the walking, I do better than if I don't do these things. Good luck Sharon.....I hope this helps. By the way, Marilyn the Bearlady is also a vampire and I think that Dina is too. Cheers! Mike

HI Sharon, As Mike Said, I also work Graveyard Work 12 to 8 which is really 1 to 9 as we have an hour timechange different fromAZ to NV where I work. (i no it is confusing, but we have to deal with it as AZ does not change to daylight sav time) My eating habits are a little messed up lately as well. they have been better this week as I have been back to getting all my water in. That seems to be the key to not eating all of the time. I try and not eat when I get home in the A.M. as I have usually had enough during the night. I sometimes eat something very light. I have only been back to Grave for about a month & still think I am grazing too much myself . I sleep just fine, but do seem to not have a very good pattern set yet on the eating thing. I am not sure I have helped any, but no we are all in this fight together & we will make it. Dont stop posting, we will be there for you to help you through it. This March Board is still the best!! I am on others & they just are not the same. Marilyn, the Bearlady

You guys are teriffic! I am going to take both your routines and make up one of own. I was going to the gym for awhile there but stopped going because I had to go to physical therapy for 4 weeks. I am going to try to make it back to the gym hopefully within this next week. I am married 4 weeks now and the holidays are upon us and now there is not enough hours in the day to do everything. I still have shopping, cards have to be sent and the house needs to get straightended. I am also facing hernia surgery and I am soo behind on my bills. I have a lot on my plate. It will be like eating a elephant-one bite at a time. I have a honey do list that will take the rest of my life to finish.
