I have been having my own struggles lately and it;s nice to come to this board because we call all relate. I feel hungry all the time and I seem to be eating alot more. I don't think it is physical hunger. I am also very worried because I have a appt with the surgeon on Dec 12 for hernia surgery. My hernia is hugh and it sticks out. This surgery has to be open and I am not happy. I always have complications with every surgery I have. I hope this one goes uneventfull.

Hi Sharon; I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as your surgery approaches. As you can tell by reading the posts here we are all struggling. I'm sure that once you get that hernia dealt with, your outlook will be greatly improved. Keep in touch and best of luck!! Mike

Sharon, maybe I can encourage you about the hernia. I just had one fixed Nov 28 (last Monday). It was the full size of my open wls incision. It looked like I was trying to hatch an alien! The surgery was MUCH easier than the original WLS. No eating or digestive problems at all--went to full diet immediately afterward. The pain was minimal, compared to the first time. They reopened the original incision--all but the top 1/2 inch. I have healed much faster than before. I doubled my protein intake before and after, and knew to walk, walk, walk. 5 days post op, I walked 1/4 mile (slowly). Today is day 8 and I walked 1/2 mile and worked out on the nautilis machines (all but the abs). I spent one night in the hospital, and never took any pain meds after I went home. The doctor says I will be better than new and will be able to do whatever I want to. I plan to go scuba diving 6 weeks post op, which involves lifting about 30 lbs of equipment. All in all, even with the surgery, I am thrilled to have an excuse for time off work!!! I hope yours goes as well. Joy
