Bit the bullet!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Well, I finally did it. I went and joined a REAL gym---with trainers, and classes and things like that. I think Curves was good for people just out of surgery (or before surgery) who aren't used to moving around and working out. I hated the hours (closes in the middle of the afternoon, only opened until 7, saturday's til noon and closed on sunday), and I just didn't feel like I got anything out of it. As a result, I wasn't doing anything. As I said before, I hate to exercise. Once I actually get to the gym and get started, I'm fine, and I'm hoping a different environment will help. I'm taking a class today at 11, then probably do a little working out. I do like the treadmill and ellipitical machine. The personal trainer is going to call me and set up an appointment. Bascially, I want to tighten up, and I want to get down to a size 4, which I feel will be most comfortable for me.
I'll let you know how it goes!!

You go girl! I admire your willpower. I haven't exercised in quite a while, although running after my 2-1/2 yr old does keep me moving. I'm hoping that I can find some motivation soon and at least start walking in the evenings. Now that Houston doesn't have 110* heat indexes on a daily basis, it's actually nice walking weather. Of course, I do own a very expensive treadmill that I could utilize, but it's just SO boring to me.

Hi, Wendy! I remember the days of running after toddlers. It's like your life is a gym because you're constantly in motion! I'd be glad to take the heat you have there in Houston. I'm freezing here.
I did go to the gym today---did the treadmill for a while, then took a "light & lively" class, then did the exercise bike for a while. Oddly enough, it sort of took my appetite away. Now that would be a miracle!

Yeah for you!! I did that & it is taken right out of my paycheck so I
can't say it isn't paid for (for an excuse). When I go to graveyard
the end of this week, I plan to stop every morning on the way home from work before I get myself back in the door. When I was walking I just could not get enough time or enough out of that either. The gym is actually fun & I can change off machines, so I don't get bored. Good luck

Well, there's lots of machines there, lots of classes....so I don't think I'll get bored. Went today, took a class, it was pretty good! I'm determined to get down to 'fighting weight' and to be the size I want to be...in addition to being healthier! Thanks for the support and I'll keep you posted.....Joanie

I think that you'll find that you just plain feel better with some regular exercise. I know that if I get regular exercise, I feel less stress and I seem to be less likely to get depressed and hit the fridge! It also has helped tighten up some of that loose skin flapping around all over my body. I haven't tightened it all up and will still probably go for a TT, but it defiinitely helps. It also seems to curb the runaway appetite somewhat. I wish the same for you. Take care and stay well, my friend.

Well, I went for my personal training session today...I really do like this place, oddly enough. I did the treadmill for half an hour before my appointment, and he did all the measuring and stuff and told me I'm within normal ranges, but that things need to be tightened up and some fat needs to be worked into muscle. I go back on friday for all the machines and I'm really psyched about it. And get this...they have ballroom dancing lessons on Friday nights! Ray and I are going to go next Friday...we had been talking about taking lessons, so that should be fun too. Wny didn't I do this months ago?????
