The Book and Its Cover
On our date last night, I learned that the round, little detective has at least 5 medals for saving lives, a medal of valor, a black belt in karate, a wall full of national and state citations, keeps a stuffed animal on his bed, takes his granddaughter Trick or Treating every year and carries a Trick or Treat bag for himself. This was all imparted to me without bragging and with humility as a result of my questioning and prying.
I just have to say that I feel humbled, selfish, unaccomplished, insignificant and very, very shallow for ever judging the cover before I opened the book.

My wish for you my friend is keep turning the pages and dig deeper.
I have posted pictures of Alton and I on the post above yours prior to reading this one. As you can see, the cover on Alton is not picture perfect but on the inside, he is a very precious man.
A man that takes time to spend with his daughter and goes trick or treating knows how precious life and those moments are. We all need to take time for those special moments.
I just got off the phone with my mom. She is disappointed today that she has staff infection and was told she had to stay in her room. She is worried that she will miss Halloween and the kids trick or treating. I told her I would check with the nurse and if nothing else, we will have our kids come directly to her room so she can see them. Alton and I are dressing up too. I assured her we would find a way so she would not miss out.
Great News Connie, I hope it all works out for you. If he has a brother
send him to Bullhead City, I would love to find someone that really cares
for me for a change.(hee, Hee) He sounds great, enjoy him & hope he is Mr Right!!
Keep us posted & be greatful for being a smaller you & take this slow.
Marilyn, the Bearlady

Several years ago I decided to stop filing complaints when I get bad service, unless it's really aggregious, and start letting people and their bosses know when they've done something I appreciate. I'm much busier writing letters these days, but I find that I'm less cranky because I'm not focused on negative things. Anyway, I saw something on-line about this guy and sent an e-mail of appreciation. He e-mailed back and after several e-mails we started talking on the phone. One night after he had a long day, he called and said he was going to the casino to sit and mindlessly play Keno and asked if I wanted to join. And there you have it.
Hugs,
Connie
Connie,
I'm so happy that you've found someone who sounds worthy of your attention. Wonderful people come in all types of packages. Take all of our friends here on this board. Underneath all of our exteriors, we're amazing people. Society puts way too much emphasis on beauty and being a perfect size 6. Unfortunately we are programmed to initially judge people from their looks. It takes a special person (YOU!) who can see past a few imperfections (like not being 6'3" or taller) and get to the real person within. Kudos to you my friend. I hope you have many happy, breathtaking moments with this man.
Please keep us updated.
Hugs!
