I figured I would update you all about my aches and pain I have been having....finally all my testing is done...GALLBLADDER arggggggg....its what you all thought it was. My doctor says its operating at 30% which isnt great. He suggested that I see a surgeon and consider having it taken out. Soooooooo...next question whos had theirs out and are you still alive Im not looking forward to this.

I had mine taken out at the same time I had the WLS surgery. It is common for the gall bladder to be a problem after rapid weight loss. I am sure you will find a lot of people that had this surgery afterwards or at the same time. Because of having 2 surgeries at one time, I can not tell you of amy problems with mine. The doctor removed mine because he found gall stones prior to surgery. That is one thing that helps determine if it is removed or not.

Kimberly, My gallbladder hit the road long before I had wls. It was such a relief not to have that horrible pain anymore. I remember it being less painful than the wls and it took me less time to recover. You'll do fine. Connie

Ditto me as per Connie's post. I'm still alive and kickin' and that pesky little thing was removed almost 20 years ago - gallbladder disease is incredibly painful and worsens until there is no recourse but to have the thing removed. That specific surgery has come a very long way since I had it done and you should rebound very quickly -- and you will be grateful not to be in that kind of pain anymore! Best of luck, Kim, and keep us posted. Maureen

I had my gallbladder out two years before my WSL and I was back at work in 6 days. I work in my office most of the time , so I don't have to pick up anything heavy. It hurt when I got up and down the first 2 or 3 days , but the more I walked the better I got. Good luck and I know how you feel about "are you going to make it" through another surgery . Sure you will, we will all pray for you. Judy

I can't give you any personal experience with this as I still have mine. I do know several people who have had their gallbladders removed within the last few years and they were all back to work within a week. None of them had any difficulties, so hopefully your experience will be the same. Good luck and Best Wishes for a speedy recovery!! Mike

Had to have mine out in August of this year... Not fun, but not bad either. Went into the hospital on a monday morning and was back at home in my own bed by 3:00 that afternoon... Took off work for 2 weeks... it took a long time to get my energy back, but that was the only problem that I had. My WLS surgeon took out my Gallbladder, so I wasn't concerned with having to find someone to do it. Hope this helps... please feel free to email me if you need more info. [email protected] Lori

Hi Kim----I also had mine out while they did the WLS. During my pre surgical testing, they told me I had 'gravel' in my gallbladder, and althought I didn't have pain, it could develop into something after the surgery so I agreed to have it taken out as part of the WLS. I don't miss it, but a friend of mine had hers out and was back to work within 2 weeks. I believe it's done outpatient now. I'm sure you're going to be just fine---keep us posted and tell us how you're doing! Joanie
