I am getting married in 3 weeks and will have food all around me-
On Nov 9, I will be getting married on the beach of St. Thomas. We are taking a 11 day cruise on Holland America. This is my first cruise. There will be so much food around us. I have to remind myself i had surgery last year and afford to gain the weight back. I promised my surgeron i will not gain weight.
Hi, Sharon, good to hear from you again! Hearty congratulations on your nupitals. St. Thomas is a special place for me and my husband, we worked there together for several months performing at The Point in Frenchtown. See if it's still there, a great, fun place...all the best, you'll be fine. Just listen to your body, try not to stress the food issues too much and have a great, great time. PLEASE get back in touch when you return. Maureen
I love going on cruises.
Here is a suggestion:
Take bottled water and what you normally drink with you. A water was about $3.00 the last time I went on a cruise, it could get expensive.
As far as the food goes, just make wise choices at meals and you will do fine. Most cruise ships have low cal choices on their menu's now.
Congrats on the upcoming nuptuals! I just came back from a cruise, and it is tough. Yes, they do have some low calorie options, but it's still difficult. Believe me, your pouch will remind you you had surgery...I know mine did twice. My advise is to take the steps as much as possible...no elevator. The onboard gyms are great, and I used the one on our ship a few times. As much as there is a ton of food, they also encourage a lot of physical activity. I took 'tastes' of things...a teaspoon of this and that, and I didn't feel deprived. I think I gained a few pounds on the cruise, but, as I said, I am still wearing my same clothes comfortably, so I don't think the damage was extensive. Concentrate on all the fun you're going to have and the wonderful life you guys will have together. Just have fun!
