Another Half-Baked Theory!
Hi Joanie;
I see your point and unfortunately, I don't have all of the answers. If you do need a protein supplement, I wonder if you would be better off mixing it in food instead of liquid which doesn't stay in your system as long. I realize that a lot of these protein powders taste terrible in some foods, but other foods disguise the protein pretty well. Have you tried putting it in your oatmeal? If it doesn't ruin the taste, it would be a way of improving the protein content of a breakfast you like.
Something else that you may want to consider: I realize that the idea of eating a large chunk of meat or other protein in one sitting can be a daunting proposition. Why not spread it out among the other things that you eat?? When you are at home, you can always melt a bit of cheese on your vegetables. A salad is a great place to "Hide" a little extra protein. You can always chop up a bit of turkey, ham, fish, cheese, or hard-boiled egg or other protein of your choice in a salad and you hardly know it's there except for a little extra flavor. On really hot, summer days, I occasionally had nothing but a chef's salad for lunch and managed to sneak a lot of protein into the mix. Also, when you have that half sandwich, try a brand of bread that has some protein if you don't already do so. If you are a bit creative, there are ways to sneak in a few extra grams of protein without making your life miserable.
I don't know if any of this helps.......maybe some of the other Marchers can kick in some suggestions too!
Take care and stay well Joanie!
Mike
