what are you guys eating in a typical day?
hi there, i rarely post on this board but today i decided to look this board up because im starting to be concerned about the intake of my foods, such as content, abundance and volume. i want to know if my intake is similar to others. i am hungry all the time so i eat small bites all day long. let me add to the picture that i am breastfeeding and i think that has something to do with it. this is what i ate today, not all at once some cases but spread out over an hours' time perhaps:
1/2 bagel & cream cheese
1/4 bowl of cereal
2 filets of chicken (with bbq sauce)
1 venti mocha light frapaccino
1/2 bread stick and marinara sauce
3 slice of apple
hand full of grapes
1 box of lowfat organic chocolate milk
1 post brand banana nut granola bar
fruit punch gatorade
ice tea
is this alot for most of you, or is my intake about average? by the way right now im sitting here hungry again. i'll likely eat some cheese crackers.
what do you think?
oh by the way. i love going to the gym to work out but since i had an accident in july, i have been in physical therapy. that being said, even in the months before my accident while attending the gym, i was stuck at 145.

I too have PCOS....
Your amounts are probably more normal than what I can eat. I had a larger pouch from the start (4 oz), and here is comparitively what I can eat:
Whole bagel with cream cheese
Whole apple
Not sure how much chicken, but plenty. LOL!
I can eat a whole normal size bowl of cereal but it will make me dump unless it's low carb and low carb milk.
Generally I have to stop myself before I'm full, but when I do find myself eating more I will watch what I eat the rest of the day. I'm still trying to lose - I'm down to 189.5 from 325. Still losing but very slowly. Today (24 hours since I work nights) what I had was 1/2 cup cereal with a dash of milk, an apple, 1/2 tuna sandwich, a cup or so of stewed zucchini with tomatoes, 1/2 a container of Campbells chicken and dumplings. I also had a handful of jelly bellies (bad me!), about 6-8 Pringles, and about 4 gingersnaps (bad again!). I could have eaten twice as much as this or more, and on weekends I find I do indeed eat enough to gain weight, so I have to watch myself. It's not easy, but I do it.
Welcome to the board, by the way. You'll find this is one of those odd duck boards that keeps going and going, so if you wanna hang out with your surgery date buddies, this is a good place to be. Great group of people here!

Welcome Kimberly! It's always great to meet another Marcher!
It sounds like your food quantities are reasonable, especially for the added stress of breastfeeding. It might make you less hungry if you substitute more protein for some of the carbs, especially the cereal, crackers, granola. Even the fruit tends to make me dump insulin and then get low blood sugar (= hungry) in a short time.
You have had quite a journey in a year and a half. Down 95 lbs + a baby! By the way, I love the name Isabella!

Hi Kimberly, and welcome to our "Marcher" community. Congratulations on Isabella (A beautiful name too!)!! It seems to me that your intake is reasonable especially considering that you are breast-feeding. It's certainly no suprise that you are hungry frequently. My wife breast-fed both of my daughters and I remember how she was hungry most of the time too. My only suggestion might be to try substituting a bit more protein for some of the carbs. Congratulations on your success and welcome once again to the board.
Mike
Welcome and congratulations. Well, today was a day of not so terrific eating so here's my public confession.
B - McDonald's Sausage Biscuit with 1/2 the biscuit thrown out
S - 1/2 c Low sugar/low fat flax seed granola stuff
L - Lean Cuisine Low carb beef and broccoli
S - 15 almonds
D - Fast Food burger with 1/2 the bun tossed
After the gym a couple of frozen meatballs and 10 tortilla chips
About the only veggies I got in were the pickles on the burger and the minute amount of broccoli in the Lean Cuisine. And I wonder why my colon hates me. I'm obviously not one to talk about a well balanced diet, but I agree with the others that more protein might help you stay full longer.

Welcome to our growing family!! You have doing amazingly well, considering you went through this being pregnant. being able to lose
95 lbs is wonderful. Here is what I have eaten today so-far:
My day off, so i have had lots of coffee 1/2 decaf 7 1/2 regular about
5 cups so far. My only addiciton.
20 oz. of water with vitamins
3 oz. of chedder cheese
1 protein drink
8 - 10 pretzels
Meatloaf is in the oven as we speak made with ground turkey & very little
hamburger. Well have that with maybe 1/2 of baked potatoe for dinner.
Well have another protein shake tonight before bed.
& stop the coffee & drink water rest of the day.
Again Welcome & do you still live in Calif. Just curious, you look familiar.

Here was a day earlier this week I reported. I'm on a strange plan due to eating small amounts for over a year. Now that I'm at goal, my dietitian has me eating 6 meals a day, plus snacks...although most 'meals' would be little more than snacks for most folks.
Breakfast 1: 1 banana, 3 ounces light yogurt
Breakfast 2: 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese
Lunch 1: Small salad with cheese, small chili
Lunch 2: 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese,
Dinner 1: Large salad with cheese, walnuts and turkey
Dinner 2: Small fresh fruit cup, cheese
Snacks: Air popped popcorn, thai soup broth (2 cups throughout the day), another banana
Drinks: Lots of coffee (some decaf, some not), Crystal Light Grapefruit, Ocean Spray Light Cranberry juice...and protein drink with 46 grams protein.
It seems like I'm constantly eating, and it's strictly mechanical. I've never been hungry (other than head hunger early on) since surgery. I have to eat measured amounts because I only have two 'settings': normal and 'oops, that was too much.'
I tend to shy away from meats because I haven't been able to handle them particularly well. I couldn't handle meat of any sort for 8 months after surgery, and to this day chicken and steak give me trouble.
The trick for me is to find a balance of eating that keeps me where I want to be. My target is to stay between 204 and 208, and maintain a 12-15% body fat percentage.
So the eating is tricky, especially since I'm involved with a very active post-WLS group. Our exercise level is high (35 miles on bike trails last Sunday), so that makes the eating balance a bit tricky.
That's enough babbling from me,
Eric C.
