FOOD arggggg
Today I'm thinking I'm eating too much. For the past 8 months I've been able to eat what I'm thnking is alot but if I take a good look at it theres not a whole lot more than what my skinny daughter eats. Usually I feel good about my food choices and amounts. But today for some reason I'm obsessing about it and thnking i'm doing it all wrong. so i'm gonna tell you all what i've eaten and you guys can "chew" me out over it. Let me say before I begin that I've acutally not eaton as much today as usual and I've not gained any weight but then again I've not lost any in 8 months. I weigh in at 157 lost 120 pounds total. excerise 4 out of 7 days a week.
food here goes!
B cup of oatmeal with fat free milk and 4 splenda packets
S adkins protein bar & 3 prunes
L 8 fat free saltine crackers with peanut butter
S 2 low fat cheese sticks & 10 pretzels
sugar free popsicle & 3 pieces of dryed apricot
lots of water inbetween
looking at it doesn't seem like that much food at all. i'm full and won't be eating anythign until tonight when my daughter & i go out to dinner. I'll probalby have a baked potato at wendys for that and inbetween another protein bar. Sometimes it feels like i've gone from eating constantly and never feeling full to eating like i've listed above and feeling lilke i've had a thanksgiving dinner. thats when i think i'm eating too much. i'm very active and on the go all the time.
i do feel tired alot more lately i think becasue i'm too busy. i was working a part time job on sat and sun that i just quit because i couldn't handle not having any time to myself. while i need the extra money i'll just have to cut out some other things like gas for the car becasue i just can't handle working 7 days a week.
Hi Pam,
It look like to me you are just eating too many carbs & not enough
protein in you choices. Starting out with oatmeal, sometimes dictates
what your day will be like. It goes through very fast & doesn't fill you up
for very long. The potato later turns to straight sugar in you system. You
just need to re-think what you are eating & add more protein to your
diet & I bet you start losing again.
Here is what I ate today: Maybe this will help you a little
5:00a.m. 3 cup of coffee w SF creamer
6:00 A.M. Protein shake (mixed with water only)
8:30 a.m 2 scrambled eggs with a little cheese in it.
9:00 More coffee (decaf)
11:30: P.M. 3 0z. of fish (it was fried) with about 4 fries.
12:30:20 oz. water
2:00 20 oz. of water
4:30 4 oz. of tuna/ light mayo & 1 slice of bread (wheat)
7:00 I will have another protein shake
& will drink another 20 oz. water before the night is over.
I drink way to much coffee, but most of my food choices have protein
in them & even though I drink a lot of coffee I try to get at least
60 oz. or more of water as well.
Hope I have been some help. You are exercising more than I do, so hang
in there. things will change soon.

Hi Pam;
I don't think that you are really far off base with your eating. Just a few observations:
I'm not so sure that protein bars are the best way to get your protein. They tend to have a lot of calories. The peanut butter is likewise. The cheese sticks and milk have lots of protein. Can you tolerate meat or fish? They also have calories, but are good dense protein which stays in your system longer. You also seem to be low on vegetables and fiber in general...not a protein problem, but something your bowels may like. You also want to be careful with the prunes and apricots....Great on the fiber, but high in sugar content. I have a real problem with the need for crunchy carbs and my choice is usually pretzels. I have been trying to substitute non-sugared cereals like mini shreaded wheat and fiber one which have the crunch, but also have high fiber and some protein. They are snacks which at least have some nutritional bang for the caloric buck. You seem to be getting enough exercise and liquid, so a couple of small changes may help a lot. Let's face it, you have done a terrific job so far, so there's no need to beat yourself up. Good luck and keep posting!
