having a hard time...

well, first off i lost my job - don't know why really. but that's got me all upset as i was absolutely loving it. so all of the following is probably brought on by stress, i suppose. sunday i woke up with an absolutely horrendous headache that landed me in the er. after a couple of shots in my rear, i was sent home - a little groggy and out of it, but feeling relatively ok. saturday night i had a really hard time pooping, but didn't think much of it. same thing happened sunday, so i sent hubby out for some stool softener after we got back from the hospital. yesterday, i woke up and feel like there's something stuck in my throat/neck and had the worst heartburn i have ever had. this morning when i woke up, i wasn't any better - still couldn't poop, hurt to swallow, but now my back is killing me and i'm absolutely freezing. so, i finally broke down and called my surgeon, and since he's almost 3 hours away he told me to get into the nearest er. so i called damien (hubby) home from work and went right in. spent about 8 hours there and still really don't know what's going on. while i was there, they slammed me with 3 iv bags because i was so dehydrated), got some xrays, an upper gi series, and a darvocet (yep, just a darvocet) for my back. i really thought that i had gotten something stuck in my pouch, but the gi tests showed that all of that was ok. so, they sent me home with a script for prevacid, and ordered me to drink lots of fluids, and to call my surgeon to see if he wants to scope me to see if there's some irritation of my esophagus or stomach lining or something like that. when i left, my blood pressure was UP to 110/55 (which is really low for me) and my pulse was at 94 (which is really high). so, i don't know. however, you know me - forever looking at the bright side of things, eh? so, if nothing else came of this horrible day, i can at least cross something off my list of "things i have never done". for the very first time in all of my almost 32 years, i got to experience a full "official" rectal exam without even having been bought drinks first. meh.

Kym, I'm so sorry about the job. It sounds cliche, but when one door closes, another one opens. I once didn't get a job that I interviewed for and to make matters worse, it was a job that I had been doing in an acting capacity for 4 years. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me because someone else heard about what had happened, thought it was horrible and offered me a much better, higher paying job that changed my life. All of the symptoms that you've described are what happens to me when I have one of my infamous constipation bouts. Back hurts, pulse and bp go haywire, feel like I'm full up to my eyeballs and everything is just stuck. Painkillers and muscle relaxers make it worse because they slow down the colon and keep things from moving as they should. When I get the worst of the attacks, my doctor has me stop eating for a couple of days and take in every drop of liquid I can stuff in my body. I hope you're feeling better. Connie

Kymber, Sorry to hear abour all of your trouble. I fight that darn constipation all of the time as eat mostly protien all of the time. Since I started drinking the protien shakes I add Benefiber to them that seams to help the situation a lot better. I hope with all of the tests they can help you out of the problem & get you to feeling better. The job thing will work itself out. O recently changed job & the job is great, I have a lot less stress & really like this job better. I don't make very much money, but I like the job, so we have to take what works for us. Something will cross your path that works great for you, I am sure of it. Marilyn, the Bearlady
