Hi everyone....I was wondering has anyone ever dealt with an incisional hernia? I have got the feeling that I have developed one...I have not yet gone to my doctor but plan on soon. It seems like alittle hardness or weirdness between my sternum and rib bone area, its to the side of my incision on the right side. Doesnt bother me when I lay down but its noticable when I walk and stuff, not real painful just uncomfortable...what do you all think? I dread being cut on again argggggggg......

It's hard to tell until you get it checked out. But if you do have to have a repair, it might be a ticket to getting insurance to pay for a TT while they are working on you... (Just a thought!) Let us know what they say... Joy

Hi Kim. I'm going in for hernia repair on July 5, and they are doing the abdominoplasty at the same time. Hernias aren't hard feeling - the best way I can describe it is when that intestine pops through your abdominal wall, it feels like a newborn puppy - same size, same softness. Uncomfortable mostly but can cause incredible pain (I had to go to the ER once with mine, scared the begeezus out of me). Simply put, a hernia is a tear in your abdominal wall muscles creating an opening for our small intestine to pop through. Not life threatening unless it strangulates or gets "stuck" - then could be real trouble. Go have it checked out. Good luck! Reenie

It could be a form of stoma. I would check with your Dr. though. Leslie
