I have noticed many people are already at their goals or getting very close to their goals. I have a question. Did you set your goal? Or did your doctor? If you are not at your goal weight per the height weight charts or BMI but are happy where you are how did you decide? I am supposed to be around 140 for my "ideal" weight. I DO NOT want to be that thin. I currently weight about 160-165 depending on the time of the month. this puts me in a solid size 8. It also puts me still overweight on all the charts. I would like to weight a normal weight for my height which is 5'6" almost 5'7". My surgeon said I could work on maintaining at this weight if I wanted to so... how do you decide when enough is enough? Nic 291/161/????

Hi Nic, My doctor has never given me a 'weight' goal, but rather a body fat % goal of 27%. I am getting closer to that all the time. When he and I have talked numbers, he seems to think that 150 would be ok for me while I want to be more like 130 to 135. Rather than a weight number he and I have pretty much agreed on a 'size' .. and that is an 8. I started with Dr Mike at 278.8 pounds on 1/29/04. As of last Friday (6/17/05 - almost 15 months from my 3/22/04 surgery date) I was 175.8. The weight is coming off slowly (in the 3 months from December to March it was 5 pounds and this last 3 months was 7 pounds), but my body size and shape is changing. At this point, I will see what weight makes me a 'comfortable' size 8 .. and then see what we can do about a tummy tuck to get rid of the belly flab that gets in the way. Personally, I think the weight charts and 'ideal' weights are what has gotten our heads all messed up to begin with. We need to be comfortable in our bodies and healthy. Hugs, Mo

Mo~ Your goal seems like a reasonable, healthy one. I may steal it! LOL I just saw a scale at Target that measures body fat. I may get one of those and focus on those numbers, since my weight really seems to have stablized since about February. But i love to work out and would enjoy seeing the body fat numbers move. thanks again! I think you are right about those height weight charts by the way! LOL Nic 291/161/150???

If you are a size 8, you should feel very good. Realize that if you have not had a TT, you probably have 10-15 lbs of extra skin, which no amount of dieting will reduce. But it is collapseable--does not seem to add up to much of a size difference. 140 seems awfully lean for your height. I am 5'3" and am 140 (without plastics) at a size 8 and am quite content (as long as I don't gain!) Joy
