Hey first I wanna say thanks oh so much for ya'lls responses, at least I know I'm not totally freaking nuts! I have disability and state health coverage. Usually getting anything done requires an act of God and the signing over of my first born.... Not so with this new doc. My appointment was at 8 am and I got there by 7:45; the office was already open and the gal at the desk said that she'd been waiting for me! I filled out all the paperwork and by 8 am was in with a nurse doing THE most through medical history I've ever had the pleasure of doing. I was then ushered into the doctors office, not a treatment room. I took my husband along and he was treated not as an extention of my shoe but like a real person by ALL the staff. He was asked questions almost as much as I was! Any way, we met with the doctor and he asked more questions. He then ushered us to a treatment room and asked (not told) me to change and that he'd be with us in a minute. The exam was sheer torture! Pain totally envelopes my abdomen these days but doc was as gentle as he could be under the cir****tances. He mentioned two options, ablation and removal of my uterous (SP whatever!) He then said that they would be waiting in his office and we could talk more there. True to his word he was literally waiting for us, since when do doctors wait for patients? I've always waited and waited and waited for doctors! Since I was leaning toward "JUST GET IT OUT!" he had consulted his schedule and said that we "could get this done on the 27th." My question was 'What month?" He said this month! Floor me! If I could have I would have danced! We took care of the necessary paperwork and then he shook my husbands hand. I went to shake his hand and instead I was enveloped in the warmest hug! He said "We're gonna take care of you, trust me!" I left with tears in my eyes! I have never been made to feel more comfortable and at ease. I have never really felt like I was important, I mean really important, and the entire staff made me feel just like that. I wouldn't have a problem recommending him to ANYONE, not even my own teenage daughter! Now, I know it's a bit early to form opinions like this but sometimes, you just know! I will be having my surgery on June 27th in Lake Havasu City, AZ. OH! And another funny thing, the day he set it for just so happened to be my husbands day off! Fates are with me on this!Wish me luck! OH!OH! He said he's gonna try to leave the ovaries but will take the appendix if convienent (I NEVER spell that word right!) So the hormone thing won't happen right away. My husband aslo asked about doing the tuck at the same time. Doc said that would be too much trauma for my body but that he is going to take some out because he's gonna take out old scar tissue from proir c-sections. Question of the day.... How much does a uterous (SP) weigh? I'm fixin' to claim that as part of my loss too!

My gyn claimed the first 4 lbs of my weight loss due to the weight of the fibroid tumors! He couldnt wait to rub that in to my WLS surgeon! I'm so glad they are taking care of you! Joy

Hey Gayle, Glad to hear you found someone who cares. that is the smart move. How long will you be out of work & will you be able to keep your job. Maybe they can rehire you after you heal, if they decide it's too soon to take the time off. Getting you back to good health is more important. Then the job thing will fall into place for you as well. Lots of prayers out your way. Take care Marilyn, the Bearlady P.S. Who is the Doc, I need to find one, I just don't want to go to Havasu unless of course I have too!!.

WOW...I'm so glad you found the right doctor so soon. It's so important not only to get the right treatment, but to have faith and trust the person you're going to. I know you are going to be just fine and it sounds like you're in really good hands. Good luck, good health and Godspeed....Joan
