well, i got my letter from the insurance about my tummy tuck, and they are still insisting that all of the evidence that they have does not support that back pain is caused by all of the hanging skin. i don't understand how it can not be??? does anyone know where i could find some information to support the fact that this is a result of the rapid weight loss and large amounts of loose skin? i've been googling all night, and i can't seem to find much info on this.
thanks,
kym
Kym, if your regular doctor/PCP writes a letter of strong support that your redundant skin is causing specific medical issues, and then provides proof -- i.e., physical therapy records, plus a trail of scripts for chronic pain, this is the evidence you need to get the necessary surgery. If you don't have your PCP involved to this extent, the liklihood of getting approved is very slim. Good luck! Reenie
Kym,
You won't find much searching rapid weight loss and back pain. Look for panniculectomy and back pain. I have articles that I can send later - gotta look for them. Reenie's right, if your tact is coverage based on back pain, you'll need to provide proof of what you're doing to manage that back pain and that the issue hasn't been resolved with conventional methods. Physical therapy records, chiropractor documentation, pcp chart notes, etc.
