Sharing Meals/little system

Has anyone had any difficulty in restaurants when you ask to share a meal? We went out for dinner not long ago, and ordered a full meal that we split---my boyfriend is not a big eater and I could never eat a full dinner. The waitress got snippy and said "Well, I have to charge you a $4 sharing charge, you know..." Then my boyfriend cracked me up---he says to the waitress---"we share a meal because my girlfriend has a little system....she can't eat a full meal." So that's how we refer to the surgery now....we talk about my "little system" as opposed to everyone else's "big systems." Remember---we have cute little systems....and everyone else has big systems...it makes us all the more special....no? Joan

Joan, That's too cute. I've never had an issue with sharing meals. In the beginning, I felt like I had to explain something or ask, but now I just say, "We're going to split XXX." and no one asks and I don't tell. Hopefully your little system won't run into anymore wait people with big cranky attitudes. Connie

It's funny because we don't have a problem with the sharing charge...and we usually tip extra because of the fact that the wait person could have been tipped on 2 meals instead of one...but the one waitress had to get so darned snippy...it was almost funny!--I like Joy's idea too... Joan
