Alli-
I was just curious-Have you guys read the 411 on the new diet drug Alli? If we took that new diet pill, would our bodies absorb the medicine? If you eat too much fat, it gives you gastrointestinal problems. LIke we dont have enough problems already. Please give me your insight. If you need more info, please go to the website www.myalli.com. I do not think that is right for me anyway as I have a thyroid condition.
I read about this new weight loss medication, and noted with alarm that it work by reducing absorption. That might be fine for those who have not had WLS, but could spell nutritional disaster for those of us whose absorption is already compromised. It would especially hamper absorption of fat-soluable vitamins such as vitamin D, which many of us are already having trouble getting enough of.
Over-the-counter DOES NOT EQUAL SAFE FOR US!!! Please do not try these unless your WLS doctor recommends it (and then seek a second opinion!)
Joy
I totally Agree with Joy on this one. I work in a pharmacy
& we are selling this stuff like crazy. I was on
Xenacal before WLS & no what that did to me & this is the same
stuff only a little lesser dose. Don't do it!! Most people dont want to read the liturature that come with it & think
they don't have to change what they are doing and can still
take this pill & eat like normal. NOTTTTT If you eat too much
fat on this stuff will give you uncontrolable bowels & will
need to take a change a clothes with you. Since we already
have problems with obsorbtion we surely don't need extra help
to add to that.
Better off fight the weight the old fashion way. Watch what
you eat & exercise just like we did 3 years ago. when we had the WLS.
