protein recommendations?
i buy my protein powders from susan maria at bariatriceating.com
i keep a tub of tasteless Any Whey to add to soups and puddings and use in baking-it can take heat-
i also like the Elite brand of protein powders-choc is my fave
i cannot stand the taste of the nectars-just me!
i also eat a great number of bars- i love odyssey bars-30 grams in a bar! rocky road and caramel...EAS Advant Edge are good too- Rite Aid and Walmart-
i buy some atkins bars-some carb wise, i love the little 9 gram bars from novartis which are available from walgreens online
i was on a kick of the peanut butter cookies and the blonde brownies form susan maria but they are pricey.....
Sandra, I am a year out and just tried the Unjury powders-I wish I had gotten them earlier. They dissolve with very little clumping, you can put them is warm drinks or soups. You can order samples from their web site www.unjury.
I also love the Glennys Slim Carb bars-I like the peanut carmel and brownie cheesecake. I buy these from their web site www.glennys but you can also get them walgreens. donna
Sandra,
I am currently using Champion Whey Protein (chocolate) Very Good
It also mixes easy & without clumping. Its comes in a very big container
and runs about 35 Dollars per container. It also comes in Vanilla. I am
going to order some of the Unjury Too, I have heard its very good
& its the good kind of whey protein that we need.
Good luck in your journey to find the right one. There are a lot of them
out there that are yucky

I don't cook, whi*****ludes mixing protein shakes.
I use Worldwide Pure Protein shakes. They are pre-made, in a can. About 35 g of protein and 2 g of carbs. I've gotten them at GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe (cheaper) and you can also get them online. I'd say try a can in each flavor before you commit to a case. I only do the strawberry, some people only the chocolate, etc. They work out to about $2 each - which, in my mind, is not bad for a breakfast meal. Cheaper than the stuff I used to eat for breakfast.
WW may not be the way to go if you're lactose intolerant. My lactose intolerant friends seem to like Isopure. It's pre-made, in a glass bottle, and it's kind of like weak Kool Aid. I think it's a little more expensive. WARNING: Isopure makes drinks WITH AND WITHOUT SUGAR so you have to be careful to buy the right one.
Actually, it's important to be careful if you do any protein bars, also, they tend to have a lot of sugar alcohol, which makes me dump. The majority of the protein market are weight lifters looking to add muscle and skinny guys looking to gain weight - neither of whom care about sugar content - so a lot of stuff has ridiculous amounts of sugar.
Good luck,
Jen
Try Extreme Smoothies (GNC or Vitamin Shoppe) great taste and 35g per can !
You will be able to find a few things of interest on my website inthe coming weeks... We will carry Instone High Protein Pudding by Sylvester Stalone. It is great ! Has 20g of protein per small container.
(empowercommunities.com)
I also like making a pitcher of Crystal Lite Sunrise and adding 4 scoops of Nectar Fuzzy Navel. You can throw it in the fridge and sip on it all day...
Next month, I will publish my next bariatric cookbook too, and it is a protein shake / smoothie cookbook !
