Belt lipectomy tuesday

Well the big day is almost here. I am starting to get a little nervous, but am just as excited as I am nervous. I appreciate all of the prayers and support that you guys have all given me, and I appreciate all the support that you continue to give me throught this next surgery. I am only supposed to have to be in the hospital overnight. I will post as soon as I can and let you know how things are going. Thanks again for all the prayers. Nick

Nick, can I ask what your insurance company is? And did your PS submit for the belt lipectomy as "medically necessary" -- what kind of supporting documentation did you have to get this covered? I just received an estimate from the PS that I had a consult with last week; He lists "proposed surgical procedures" as: (1) panniculectomy; and (2) abdominoplasty. Then he lists combined fee for both procedures as $4,200, with insurance coverage of $1,200! He then says, "blance abdominoplasty (cosmetic portion)" as $3,850, so I'm reading this as he basically is not supporting this as medically necessary even though he has a letter of medical necessity from both my regular doctor and my WLS surgeon! What's up with this??? Can anyone offer me some insight here? I think I'm dealing with a guy much like Connie is - he doesn't need insurance hassles so why go to bat for anyone? Any help is greatly appreciated. Reenie
