Any suggestions for PS consult?
I have my appointment scheduled for a consult on May25th. I am wondering if anyone who has gone before me can give me any extra hints of things to take and include as to help my case. I have notes fromt he wound clinic for three serious staph infections I had developed in the abdominal flap, physical therapy notes for pain due to the ruptured disks, and my surgeon referral and notes. Is there anything I am leaving out? I so bad want this to be approved. I am about 5 pounds from goal, but know it is mostly the excess skin, thus far have lost 183 pounds. I feel excellent and have a hard time getting my mind around this new life, but know that it will be much better when I dont have to deal with all this skin stuff!! Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Hi Janelle, wow you look wonderful. And what a gorgeous family you have! You sound as if you have all your bases covered, the physical therapy reports should help. I'm waiting to learn the fate of my insurance determination. Do you have a recommendation from your regular doctor? Let us know how your consult goes. I think this whole business is pretty much a crap shoot and it really comes down to which insurance company you use. Best of luck, I'll be anxious to hear how things go for you! Reenie
Well, I don't know that I'm a font of information since my own request was denied, but I have been researching this a lot. Take pictures both nekkid and clothed. You want to show that you look fine in clothes and are not doing this for cosmetic reasons. Make sure that you have a letter from your pcp that says that it is medically necessary.
Also if you have any MRI reports or proof that the disks are ruptured, include it. Reciepts for the medications might help. When in doubt, overwhelm them.
My letter of denial says that there is no evidence that removal of excess skin will help alleviate back pain. I've found a study done in Texas that says otherwise that I will include with my appeal.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
