Paulie the wonder bird
My african grey Paulie the wonder bird has a favorite gamethat he likes to play called get mommy to copy me. He will say coo coo bird then i repeat it back to him.
I wanted to get him to say coo coo dog so one morning when he would say coo coo bird i'd say coo coo dog. we did this for a few times until he stops looks at me says "whatever" turns and woudln't talk or look at me for the rest of the night!
these birds are very smart and tempermental just like kids so i figured oh well he'd be ok maybe later he'd talk.
by the morning when he still wasn't talking i felt bad. as i was gathering up my things for work to head out the door. he looks at me and quietly says coo coo bird!!!! i was over joyed to have one of my favortie friends be talking to me again! I repeated coo coo bird right back to him! we did that for a few times and just as i was closing the front door...he looks at me... and says coo coo DOG!
that little bugger KNEW he just KNEW but he wanted to teach me a lesson! hahaha He hasn't said coo coo dog again and its been over a week.

I love to read your posts about Paulie. We met some folks at the campground the last night of our trip who travel with an African Grey named Buzz in their motor home. They have had Buzz for 23 years (since he was 7 months old). I didn't hear him talk but when I was repeating some of your stories about Paulie, they had similar stories about Buzz. Apparently, when they open the fridge, Buzz announces ... Time for a beer!!! This is a retired couple and they are already making (or trying to make) plans for who will take Buzz when they are unable to keep him (due to their health or worse ...) since he will in all eventuality out-live them.
