Wendy Ann, I applaud your courage for asking for help and sharing your difficulties. You speak for many of us, myself included. The phenomenon of weight loss due to the actual surgery is over for us; we are left with the battle faced by every person struggling with maintaining a normal, healthy relationship with food in order to remain healthy and strong in our daily living. I have my good days and bad days; today is a bad day, as is typical for me as I have great difficulty making the right food choices on the weekends. I've determined there are two reasons for this: first, I respond well to structure and the way I eat is built into my very structured work week, so Monday-Friday, I have a much easier time of it. Secondly, the sadness I feel in my personal family life makes me scream to find something to fill that emotional void -- and weekends are "family" time. I try to do the best that I can but it all has become very difficult for me as well. I will share with you what I eat during the week, Monday-Friday: a.m. Either protein shake (Atkins) or protein bar with coffee (although they don't settle well with me) lunch high protein, low carb frozen meal, like Lean Cousine dinner 1 portion protein, 1 portion veggie I will have an apple sometime during the day for fiber -- I continue to have terrible constipation problems I dring at least 64 oz. of water throughout the day I take my vitamins and calcium supplements That's it. Hope this helps, keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Best of luck, Maureen

Have you tried drinking warm apple juice and Benefiber daily? That is a great way to get rid of constipation without a lot of drama... Increasing fluid intake to 80+ fl oz per day will help as well... VAL

Thanks Val, I'll give this a try -- does it have to be Benefiber, or can I mix any fiber additive, i.e., natural laxative, to the warm apple juice? Reenie

Benefiber is what was recommended to me by my sister, grandmother (both whom are RNs) and my surgeon's office. It is very easy on the body... You can try others and see what happens. I just like the fact that Benefiber is clear and not chalky and it works just enough so that I am not running to the porcelin god all day LOL... VAL

Hi Margo! I eat mixed nuts on a regular basis, always as a snack between meals. I have peanut butter quite often as well. Still no help. I think when the doc rearranged my plumbing he altered the waste "route" as well -- things are just uncomfortably different. Would love to hear if anyone else is having problems like this. Reenie

Maureen, I take RX iron to fight anemia, therefore I have another problem along with it. Rather than choke down MOM everyday I take several Magnesium Oxide caplets twice and day. Since I started the caplets as part of my regular supplement ****tail I've not had much of a problem. It does have to be Magnesium OXIDE and I prefer the Rexal brand. Hope this helps!! Va
