Help! Plastic Surgery Consult Today
Go have another consulatation with other surgeons. As many as you like. Ask if each one about submitting the panni, brachioplasty, or whatever to your insurance. By meeting with other surgeons you'll get to the point the one that gives the best beside manner and surgical skill will make you want to have the procedure with them. You do not have to rush to get the surgery or schedule it. It's better to go slow especially with plastic surgeons who have some what of a sales quota to make each month.
I just had a consult last week for my arms and the doc that I went to said that insurance will only cover the TT. He said that they used to submit the arms and thighs as well but insurance companies were just getting mad and said that if they didn't stop submitting those claims then they would stop paying for the TT's as well. My arms are going to cost me 4575! I am still 26-36 pounds from goal so he won't do my TT or thighs yet but he's willing to do my arms because I carry my weight in my belly and thighs not such a top heavy person. Hope this helps!
This really did help. Dr. Personality kind of said the same thing.
I've decided to go ahead with Dr. P for the time being. I've checked into all of the other Plastic Surgeons that my insurance will work with and he's had the most experience with wls patients. If I get turned down for insurance coverage and lose my appeals, then I'll look again for surgeons outside of my plan.
In either case, I've decided to go with the vertical scar. My sister has a scar that runs stem to stern from when she had her colon removed. She had surgery over a year ago and the scar is almost invisible now.
Best of luck on your brachioplasty and thanks for your input.
