Dawg goes 45
Well, yesterday was the day of what was supposed to be my attempt to ride 89 miles from Helena, Montana to Great Falls, Montana. However, it was determined we needed to split the route up more due to some no shows so I was only able to ride half of it. So, over what can be classified as a moderate to difficult ride I completed 45 miles and averaged 15 miles an hour. So yes I spent three hours on the bike and my butt hurts. But it was worth it and I enjoyed the recognition of my fellows co-horts. I never hurts to earn some respect in the testostrone charged environment of law enforcement. I know I could have completed the 89 miles if I would have slowed down some and paced myself, but my butt is glad I didn't do that.
Thanks for the support, last year our Law Enforcement Torch Run was recognized as the 2nd largest donor in the world per capita and we are on pace to surpass our number from last year.
Hope all of you are well. Thanks again.
Congratulations, Dawg! 45 miles is most impressive.
I'm going into the Grand Canyon with a group of inner city kids from Chicago next month. 10 miles down and 10 miles back and we have to pack in all food and supplies and pack out all trash. I'm so out of shape because of work and other time constraints that I'll probably just roll down the 10 miles and pay the kids to haul me out. Seriously, I have three weeks to get back in shape so I've kicked it into high gear. The last of my time constraints should be gone by Friday so that will give me more time to work out.
Again... Congrats on the ride and enjoy the Testosterone Kudos. I know what you mean because I live in the world of testosterone filled law enforcement these days.

Ken, I don't care what the heck's going on with you - I hope with all my hear that all is well in your world but even if not...we need you! First of all, everyone is worried; you're a cop - when you're absent, we worry. Secondly, I need your help. Tell me where you're at with all of this -are you keeping the weight off, are you still working out - is it getting more difficult to stay on track? Please, please post. I for one really need to hear from you. Maureen
