Need Some Input on a TaTa Issue
I admit that I'm not all that sharp at times. It took me until the age of 44 to realize that my boobs are hurting my back. I was standing in front of the mirror (fully clothed) and lifted my boobs to see what I would look like without my nipples at my belly button. I realized that my upper back stopped hurting as soon as I was holding the tatas up. I've gone from a 46 or 48 to a 36 or 38, but I'm still a DD.
I was at the pcp's earlier this week and said, "Hey, I figured out that my boobs are hurting my back. My back stops hurting when I hold up my boobs." I think I'm some kind of brilliant.
Barlow (my Dr.) looks at me and says, "Well, duh." He's very eloquent. I love that about him. It's just like the time that his diagnosis for my lower back was that I was "**** out of luck." Or how about the time he told me that if I stopped hauling around a 50 pound purse I wouldn't need to be bugging him about my back all the time and he could spend his time with patients *****ally needed him. Or how about the time I walked into the office with a Diet Coke (pre-surgery) and he told me to stop drinking that crap before it killed me. His bedside manner is wonderful. He looks like a short Columbo. He wears his white DR smock like a trench coat. The man cracks me up.
So anyway, he tells me to get a breast reduction. What?!?!? People actually do this? Willingly? I'm having a very hard time wrapping my mind around this. I want them lifted, but I don't want them smaller. I'm certainly going to talk to the plastic surgeon about this at the end of March. I'm re-thinking my whole opinion that more is better in the mammary department, but it's not sitting well. How much do they reduce to consider it a breast reduction? Could I go from a DD to a large C and still have the insurance company consider it a reduction? Do any of you have experience with this sort of thing? Any thoughts?
Connie
Hi, Connie!
Not that I'm an expert in the ta ta department (as I am sporting some silicone bra inserts just to keep a lite D), but I heard that in order for insurance to pay for a breast reduction the doc has to remove "x" amount of tissue. I don't know what the magic number is, but it would be worth investigating.
BTW, my hubby is all for getting my silicone slipped under the skin, but I'm a little nervous.
Good luck with it!

Connie,
You and I were similar size pre-surg and now post as well. I dont know how I could lose 160 pounds and still be a DD. But it is definately not a filled out DD, it is the roll em up to make them fit in the cup kind. this past weekend I went to Victorias Secrest to be fitted in a new bra and the woman was flabbergasted, she said she couldnt fit me, I was so "odd" and no matter what size or style I tried on nothing fit. What there is there has no form just skin hanging there that even a push up doesnt work because the stuff being pushed up just rolls ligt candle wax out over the top and hangs. I have an appt with my PCP for the referral to PS tomorrow. I too have back pain, so will just wait and see where this all leads. What brand bra do you have the best luck with getting em up there?
Janelle
Janelle,
The best fit that I've found has been some cheapies at Wal-Mart. They're the Secret Treasures brand with a full foam cup. I think I paid about 10.00 for them. I was in Robinson's May the other day and tried on just about everything they had and nothing fit as well as the Wal-Mart brand. My 38DD's are on the last hook so I'll have to go see how the 36's fit.
Good luck and let me know if you find anything else.
