APPROVED!!!
I just found out a few minutes ago that my beltlipectomy has been APPROVED By my insurance company! I'm so happy i'm in tears! I'm also in complete shock! I didn't think that this was ever going to happen. I thought I was gonna have to live with this extra skin forever. I'm so happy!!!!! I just had to share this news with everyone.

I'm thinking the surgery will probably be in March. So not to far away. I'm hoping to be all healed for the summer! The beltlipectomy is when they remove the extra skin from the stomach to the back. They will leift my butt and thighs and remove all the extra skin that they lift. This will also take away any love handles and define my waist. I will have one incision all the way around and one down the upper part of my stomach to my "new" belly button. Now with a regular Abdominoplasty (tt) they only remove the extra skin on the stomach.

Wow, sounds very painful...but oh the rewards in the end! Kelley, can I ask who is your insurance company? And did you have to provide evidence of this surgery being a medical necessity and, if so, what did you include as evidence? Did your regular doctor write a letter for you and/or your surgeon? Sorry for the drill, but inquiring minds want to know! Thanks! Maureen
Hey I don't mind the drilling
I actually have Boston Health Net which is through Medicaid. That's what makes the approval so shocking to me. All I did was went to my plastic surgeons office got some pictures taking and thats basically it. I told them that I get reaccuring skin rashes/infections in my belly button and thats it. My PS wrote a letter of medical necessity requesting the beltlipecotmy and sent the pictures and that was it. I didn't need anything from my primary doc or my gastric bypass surgeon. This was a very easy process for me. I'm so surprised at how easy it was.

Gosh, I'm so excited for you! I'm hoping to get some kind of plastic surgery approved soon...I don't want to live with the extra skin either. Let me ask you, since everyone is picking your brain here---how long is the recovery time? How long will you be out of work? That is a concern for me. Looking forward to hearing more about it....Joan
