Hello everyone, I was just wondering what your surgeon told you as to when you would stop losing the weight? I've heard that your window of opportunity to lose weight is 12-18 months or so and then you stop losing weight. How does your body know when to stop losing the weight and stay at 1 weight? How do you personally know if your on a plateau or if the weight has stopped for good? Can you please tell me how it was explained to you? Thanks alot. Terri

My surgeon didn't really say anything other than it would take me about 16 months to lose all of my weight. I never thought to ask how it would stop. Connie

My surgeon maintains that for MOST people, the weight loss stops after a year; that the first year is the "window" and after that the weight will fluctuate depending on how committed you are to keeping it off -- basically that we will gain it back if we are not vigilant, but that we will no longer continue to lose. Bummer because I have 30 more to go -- and it hasn't budged in a month...well, it budged upward, I've gained 2 lbs. this month. Today is my anniversary date so I will weigh myself later and hope, hope, hope that it budged its way back down. Best, Maureen
