HERNIA IT IS...

Hi friends. Well, I visited my PCP tonight and he tells me that, indeed, I have quite a large abdominal hernia. He is attributing it to the WLS. Nothing life threatening but needs to be carefully monitored. So I guess I'm facing yet another major surgery in a few months. Hopefully, will take care of the TT at the same time. On a brighter note, my doctor positively beamed when he ushered me in! He just couldn't get over the transformation, kept saying, "I can't believe how thin you are!" Well, 177 lbs. is hardly thin but compared to the 357 lbs. I used to be when I was visiting him regularly for diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and the rest...I must look pretty thin to him! He's a great doctor, I couldn't have gotten through all of this without him. So, take care, everyone. The weight has all but ceased to come off and who knows if I'll lose another pound. Holy guacamole! You've lost more than you weigh! Kudos to ya! I think I may have 2 small hernias below my belly button. So he says to monitor them until what happens? What's his plan of attack? I'm interested. Bet you feel fabulous!! CP

Thanks, CP, I hadn't realized that! As for your possible hernia(s), you should have it looked at, ok? You want to make sure that there is no danger of your intestines blocking your bowels. Take care! Reenie

Hi Maureen; I'm sorry to hear about the hernia. I hope that all goes smoothly when it's time to deal with that. Keep us posted. As for your other news.... It's time for a lecture..... I just got finished washing and waxing my soap box so you're in big trouble: Your doctor should be amazed at what you've accomplished. It seems that everyone but you is amazed.... you've done a wonderful job and its high time that you realize it. FOR GOD'S SAKE WOMAN.... YOU'VE LOST THE EQUIVALENT OF A FULL SIZED 6 FOOT PLUS TALL MAN IN LESS THAN A YEAR!!!!!!! Stop and think about that for a minute why don't you??!!!! And I don't believe for a minute that you're done losing weight either. Maybe your body is taking a well- deserved breather. You really need to work on those "POSITIVE VIBES". I consider my weight loss a resounding success and I've lost a lot less than you have. I hope that the bad news about the hernia is what's bringing you down because you should be jumping for joy at your success. OK.... end of lecture You're my "WLS Sister" and I'll not have you down in the dumps...so lose the frown or I'll come over there and tickle your feet till you pee yourself!!!! Reenie, I agrree with Mike, You have done fantastic & should be amazed at how you have done not down in the least. A lot of WLS patients get hernia,s & the repair is not that extensive & you will do fine when the time come to that. Reenie, You are doing fantastic girl!!!! I am soooo impressed. That is amazing when you think you have lost more weight than you currently weigh. WOW!!! Sorry to hear about the hernia, however as a bright spot there, your insurence will be more likely to approve the TT when they Hernia is repaired. Do you have an updated pic? Leslie
