Thanks for the Warm Welcome
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome. Don't have alot of time to spend on the boards like I want. LOL Was just wondering how many oz. of food you can eat at each meal since we all had surgery in the same month? I know it's probably different if you have softer foods as compared to meat or something heavier. Also, did your surgeon's give you a goal to meet? Mine didn't. Just curious. Thanks for your feedback.
Hope everyone is having a great week!!
Terri

Terri,
I can eat 3 to 4 ounces of protein at a time depending on what it is. Chicken I can eat less of.
I'm somewhere between 5'4 and 5'5. I'm actually taller since surgery. Since I have a smallish frame (who knew?) my surgeon said I should be about 125. The surgeon's nurse thought she was smoking something and told me to shoot for 140.

My Dr. said he expects me to lose 50-70% of my overweight
weight and 70% would have put me at a little over 200lbs I am currently 184
He would like you to get to the 70% which I have succeded I would like to lose another 15lbs and get to around 170 which is 20lbs over my ideal for my height of 5'8". I read posts every day and love this board I am more of a voyer than a particpater. All of you Marchers are awesome.

Hi Terri,
My doctor didnt' give me a 'goal' weight at the beginning. He focuses on body fat percentage, and my goal there is 27%. The couple of times he and I have discussed 'numbers' I have said I would like to get to 130 and he has been skeptical. We have agreed though that it is not unrealistic for me to be a size 8, so whatever weight that translates to we will see.
The first surgeon I saw said that his patients lose an average of 70% of their excess weight. The patients in my doctor's practice lose on average 90 to 95% of their excess, with many losing 100%. I am hoping I am in that category, though things have slowed down here.
I saw Dr Mike yesterday for a comblined 10/11 month check up and he is not concerned with my weight loss. He is confident that it is coming off. I'll go with his confidence.
Good luck,
Hugs, Mo
I can eat anywhere from 1/2 a cup to 1.5 cups depending on what the food is (density, dryness, how soupy, etc.) , how hungry I am, how much I have had to drink, etc. My doctor set a goal of 140- I am 5'7"- 5'8". I have 8 more pounds to reach that goal, but everyone says I don't need to lose more. I am tiny and bony about the waist and bigger in the thighs and calves. I hope these last 8 will come from my legs. If not, I may try and stabilize at 150. I stayed at 150-153 for about 7 weeks. Then this week I have worked out every day and twice a day on Mon., Tues., and Wed. and really cut back on eating and gone down to 148. I want to get to 140 and see how it feels. I do have a lot of saggy skin to remove, so I think my actual weight should be below 140 when I have that removed. I hope to have plastic surgery this summer, but I need to do some fundraising and investigation. i think I'm going to Brazil.
