Just Stuff
It's been a rough weekend and I'm glad it's almost over. I had to fire someone on Friday and I always hate that. Everytime I have to terminate someone, I spend the next couple of weeks worrying about how they are and whether or not they found a new job.
Last night we gave a birthday party for my brother-in-law. Things were fine and I think everyone enjoyed themselves until my sister and step-mother lost their minds. It was one of the uglier shouting matches I've seen. I'm dreading Mother's Day.
I just found out that a woman I know is going to have wls. Normally, I'd be thrilled for someone, but I think it's a huge mistake in this case. I've never seen this person without a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. I've seen this person pour a bourban and coke and take it with her as she gets in her car and drives off. She's 60 years old and has been smoking and drinking all her adult life. I know that my surgeon wouldn't operate on her so I'm a little surprised that she found a surgeon that will. I hope that everything goes OK, but I think the odds are against her.
Is anyone else having issues with bloating and gas? Several times in the last few weeks, I've eaten something and had my stomach visibly swell. It's painful and takes a while to go down. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I was at lunch with a friend who had wls about 4 months before me and the same thing happened to her. I had another episode last night and it was so painful that I ended up throwing up. I was thinking that it has something to do with my Pacreatitis, but since my friend is starting to suffer from it also (second episode for her) I'm starting to wonder if it's more common with wls folks.
OK guys, hope everyone had a better weekend than I did. Not catastrophic, but it was emotionally draining.
Hugs,
Connie
Connie,
It's 8:30 p.m. Sunday night and I was just sitting here thinking ... Where did the weekend go???? We took the RV out Friday night to make sure that everything works before we leave on the 16th, came home early afternoon yesterday to wa**** because it sat all winter uncovered and looked NASTY!!!!, then out to dinner last night and today was taken up with going to the Nationals-Mets game in DC. Now it's time to go to bed so I can get up at 4:30 a.m. for the gym
I'm going to be spending most of my days this week in with the cashiers because my cash control supervisor is on vacation and since we are short a cashier, the Cashier II who would normally backup that position can't be spared from a window, so I get to do the 'back office' stuff. The good news is that I covered two days last week and can do it without a total panic attack. I'll be fine as long as I don't ever have to work a window!!!
Hugs, Mo
connie i totally understand about the gas issue. I always have gas every single day its terrible. i'm also very glad that i am out on the road all day so that my poor co-workers aren' taround it!
this past week my boss and I had a meeting that we needed to go together. usually he'll meet us but this day he decided to ride with me. Oh great! but i'd not had anything that I thought would make me gassy. So. I went out to the car becasue he was called into a quick meeting with the bigger boss and as i got into the car one ripped. sorry but there is no other work to discribe it but ripped. hate to get realy nasty here but let me tell ya these things sound effects are unbelieveable. my kids have way to many belly laughes when we all get together discribing the sound effects. rotten kids should get hiccups for days after those visits.
So no only was the sound effect extrodiary but the...hum....smell was tremondous. i rolled the windows down and turned on the air conditioner hoping that i could somehow get that out of that tlittle car before he got there. rotten boss was quicker than expected and the poor bugger got in.
it was a cold day and he says to me why are the windows down? I pulled the menopause card and said I'm having a terrible hot flash we have to have the windows down and the air on for a minute.
it was a cold day when yuo'd normally have the heat on. the windows fogged. he looked alittle foggy too. i bet ya he was goign to go home and ask his wife if gas issues were also a part of menopause.
one thing for sure he won't be driving with me for a while!
Sorry you've had a rough time of it lately, Connie. Someone with a heart as big as yours must have a very difficult time in letting an employee go, no matter the reasons. As for the other issue, I'm right there with you. My son just told me that he is seriously considering emancipating himself from me because of the gas issue - he says my "problem" is 10 times worse than his and "Dad's" put together - you get the gist of it. I sure wish there was an answer to this delimma because it's particularly embarrassing at work. If anyone knows of how to alleviate the problem, please share! And yes, it is painful and the bloat is terrible - looks like I've gained 20 lbs., but it's just gas bloat and goes away after a few hours. Take care, M.
