Final TT consult today

Hey everyone, Just a little update... Today I went for my final consult For my tummy tuck. I sat with the surgeon for a while looking at before and after pictures of others, then had my photos taken. That was the worst. Hes going to ask my ins company for approval for a beltlipectomy (sp). He said they may approve that and if not chances are they will approve the abdominoplasty , either way I'll be a happy camper, but Of course I'd be happier with the whole thing (belt). Also He said that If they were to only approve the abdominoplasty then he would charge me 3500 for the rest. I'm thinking if I can get on some typoe of payment plan then I would go for that also, but If not then I will just get the abdominoplasty. He said it should be about 7-10 days before I hear anything from the insurance company. I'm praying that things go smooth and I'll be approved. Like I said, I'll even be happy with an approval for just the abdominoplasty. I'm down to 133 lbs pounds now and wearing 4 misses and 5 juniors. I am very happy where I'm at. Wow! I hope it goes through for you... I can't wait to get to that point... soon, soon! May I ask what hospital you're going through for the PS? I'm just starting to look now for a surgeon, as I *think* that my insurance *might* actually cover part/most of what I need... Hi Beth, My surgeon said I will be either going to South Shore Hospital Or Quicy Medical Center. He said South Shore If my ins covers both surgeries and Quincy Medical If they only cover the abdominalplasty. He said That he'd do it at Quincy If I was not approved because their costs are less. I had my children at SS Hospital... I didn't even *think of going there for PS. Who did you start the whole process *with*? I don't know where to start! My bariatric surgeon basically said that it's cosmetic, don't bother... buuuuut I WANT to try anyways! -beth 313/298/156/130

Hi Again I started out with my Gastric Bypass Surgeon... He is the one *****ferred me to Dr. Darrow, my plastic surgeon. My GB surgeon said that because I lost over 100 pounds so quickly and get reoccurring infections and rashes in my belly button area that it is considered medically necessary and my Ins should cover it. Every time I got a skin rash even the smallest ones I called it in to report it, and Every time I went for my post op visits and had one I made sure that it was documented. That should help me with the approval that I'm waiting so patiently for, lol. If you want My plastic Surgeons info just email me and I'll be more than willing to share it. I think he's excellent. Hi Kelley, Good luck on everyhing!! Can you tell me what is the difference between beltlipectomy and abdominoplasty ? Did the doctor tell you you how much $$ he charge for tha abdominoplasty??? Martha

The Beltlipectomy goes all the way around like a belt. That would remove any extra skin around the sides and on the back. Abdominoplasty is just the removal of the skin in the front on the stomach only. My surgeon said his charge would be 5000 for the whole thing (belt and abdom) or 3500 just for the belt. Also not included is hospital charges, which he said go from 1400 and up, depending how long your in the or and how long u stay. He didn't tell me how much the abdominoplasty was alone. I guess he thinking that the ins should approve that without a problem. I hope so! Kelley 265/133
