Watcha Doin' This Weekend?
Today I have a full day of girl stuff planned. I was up at 5:30 and cleaned the house (that's not girl stuff). In a few minutes I'll be leaving for the gym and will take two classes. After I shower and dress, my girlfriend and I are going to get pedicures and haircuts, then it's off to Origins for makeovers. Dinner at an Irish pub and a street fair after that.
A year ago, I would have been wiped out after cleaning the house. I wouldn't have cared about how I looked and wouldn't have invested the time in having my hair and face done. I had almost become a recluse and surely wouldn't have been heading for a street fair where I had to walk for blocks and blocks. There will be bands every block so you can bet I'll be dancing in the streets. Not only that, I'm taking a camera.
On another note, I saw one of my old staff this week. I hadn't seen her since before surgery and she didn't know I had surgery. I guess my current staff are really following HIPAA laws because no one had told her about my surgery even though she talks to someone in the office every few weeks. I ran into her in the hall and she literally screamed when she saw me. She kept hugging me and had tears in her eyes. In fact, she left and then came back and hugged me some more.
I also went in for a massage with an old massage therapist that I hadn't seen since before surgery. She couldn't get over the change either and hugged me three or four times. It was the worst massage of my life because she kept stopping to talk to me about how great I looked and asked questions about whether my life had changed and how. Even though the massage was terrible, I gladly paid the fee and tipped her well. lol
Have a wonderful weekend you guys and stay active.
Connie
let's see....I have company for the weekend. We moved the treadmill into the computer room and I acutally walked on it yesterday. He is now watching the ballgame. And I am on the computer. This is the first guy I have atually been in real company with for years. Not sure it would have happened prior to surgery. Did not have the time of the energy before surgery. Life is good right now. I have a roast cooking for later today. We are contented spending time together.
Oh Connie - that is hilarious about the massage! I would have done the same. I know when I was about to get this surgery my counselor warned me that I might become uncomfortable with compliments or attention from others but so far I am happy with it all! I do get slightly embarassed sometimes but it's a good embarassed, not bad at all. I love hearing it from other people because it makes it real for me when I can't see it myself.
I need to get my hair done. It's dry as straw and feels like crap. I need a girl-day.
