GASTRIC FISTULA

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF A GASTRIC FISTULA AND ANY SUGGESTIONS

Hi Dawn, My suggestion is to see your doctor!!!! I have a small fistula which resulted from a combination of an ulcer near the surgical site and an esophageal stricture (closing up of the stoma). What I was able to get down found it's own path and unfortunately formed a fistula to the unused pouch. With the healing of the ulcer and having my esophagus dilated several times, I am doing better with it. My doctor is watching it and if it doesn't close up on its own, he will correct it surgically. It is not something to ask advice about on a board, you need to be diagnosed correctly and have it taken care of. Hugs, Mo

Hi Dawn, Yes I have not only heard of it but I just had one repaired. It was discovered at 2 months out but the surgeon suggested that we wait & see if I could be succesfull. So we did & I was hungry all the time!!!!! No kidding, I had full capacity!!! My weight loss stopped at about 70 lbs & 5 months out so at 9 months we went in and repaired it, now I am never hungry!! Thank god!! I also had other issues that were repaired at the same time. Renee
