So, I'm at T.J. Max with my daughter, doing the after-holiday-sales shopping and I see a woman in line that I recognize but can't remember who she is. It drives me nuts so I go up to her, lay my hand gently on her shoulder and say, "I know I know you, but I don't know how!" We are face-to-face, about 1/2 arm's distance away from each other. She looks at me blankly for a second and says, "No, I've never met you before." I say, "What's your name?" She responds with her name and tells me where she works, at an elementary school in the area. Then I remember her as the secretary to the principal. I worked at the same elementary school 3 years ago as a long-term substitute music teacher, and I tell her so. I say, "I'm Maureen Boyd, I was the music teacher there 3 years ago." Her eyes widden so much that I think they may pop out of the sockets! She doesn't seem to be able to say anything so I say with a smile, "I've lost a little bit of weight since then." She manages to respond, "No, you've lost a lot of weight since then. I really didn't recognize you." I say thanks and go back to hunting the sales racks...only I can seem to stop smiling. Have a great day everyone! Maureen

Maureen, That is so awesome! I haven't seen anyone that I haven't seen in a long time. I often wonder what their expressions will be like. I want to reach goal by the summer so bad so that when I go back to Virginia (where my moms family is from) they will be completely and utterly shocked! All my aunts and uncles!!! I can see me walking up to my uncles house and him wondering who the heck is comming to visit him! It will be wonderful to see everyone just because I miss them all so much but even more delightful to be able to see them and not have to worry about them worrying about how huge I am getting! Way to go Maureen! You are doing so awesome!!! Wishing you continued success! ((hugs)) Elizabeth M

Gee Maureen; Were we not just talking about self- image things before the support group meeting?? You have made amazing progress and I'm glad to hear that you are getting this kind of feedback from others. Sometimes we need these little jolts to remind us of how far we have come instead of dwelling on minor setbacks which we all seem to be prone to. I hope that the afterglow from this encounter stays with you for a long while! Save it in your memory bank for the next time you feel down! Mike

i have not been that fortunate but at our support mtg teh other nite; a gal walked in who none of us knew- she had had her surgery in '03 and one of our members was her angel! she has lost 139 # and vickie absolutely did not know who she was even when she said her name at first!!! i work in a bank and we have a great number of elderly customers- i am tired of hearing "you're new here aren't you?" i politely say that i have been there since may )-so the other day i asked a co worker if i looked diff- she said "Margo, i work with you every day...." gosh maureen- that is so awesome!!!!!! *and did you get any good buys at tj maxx???? i don't have one near by anymore.

Ahhh...isn't that great? I had a client come in to our showroom who is building a new house, and I helped her 2 years ago. She recognized my voice...and that was about it. She was totally amazed and told me I look at least 15 years younger. Feels wonderful, no?
