Elevated Liver Functions Test

Hi.... I'm 9.5 month post op and just had some lab work done and it showed that my Liver Functions Test(AST & ALT) were elevated. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else???? I'm kinda worried! I'm taking my vitamins(reg and calcium) and getting in my protien, though I'm still having trouble with the water on most days. All other levels were great....is this a side effect of the surgery??? Help if you can! Thanks!! 3/10/04 - Total loss 83.5

Is your doctor concerned? I just had lab work come back and everything checks out, no issues at all. Talk to your doctor and get his/her take on your results. Let us know. Best, Maureen

One time my liver levels were high. It was determined that I was getting to many vitamins. I was on a diet eating good plus taking special vitamins. So that might be all it is. I quit the vitamins and everything was fine.

My surgeon said I have had cirrohs(sp?) of the liver, he did a biopsy during surgery. I have never drank or used over the counter meds (or illegal meds). They did the hepititus A,B,C tests all negitive-he said it is common from a high fat diet. I went to a specialist and will have him monitor me from now on. I am not sure what my levels are.
