Fighting weight gain
For the first time since surgery, my body is wanting to gain. I am eating the way I was, basically low sugar, small portions, but I am up 4 lbs from my low weight. I think at least part of it is fluid, but it is a bit scarey that the scales have been "hanging high" for the last week.
I guess I knew this would happen, but hoped it would be down the road. I'm trying to increase protein shakes and reduce carbs. We shall see...
I just wondered if this is happening to anyone else...

I've had some weight gain the past 2 months - but both in connection with Aunt Flo coming to visit. I literally gained 5lbs in 2 days this time. Talk about a bit of a scare when stepping on the scale. I try to put it in perspective and do like you do - watch my intake and what I'm eating.
You've come this far - you can do this and maintain! You're on the right track!
Good luck!

Hi Joy:
I'm sorry that you are frustrated by this weight gain, but if you are keeping to the proper foods and calories then it is most likely water weight, or perhaps just a slight tilt of the earth's axis.
What worked for me was to focus on my calories--rarely if ever over 1000 and often 800. I've lost 96 pounds, and am down to 135--my lowest since I was a kid. My physical exams and labs have been fine so this way of losing really worked well for me.
Just one thing I'm not sure why you think regain would be a normal part of this process. Both my son, daughter, and daughter's best friend have had wls and none of them regained anything. I do not expect to do so. I think though that if I do go up 3 pounds that I will simply return to 1000 cal. per day until it goes away. I weigh daily so I will not be surprised by any fluctuations.
Hope you start lsoing again, quickly and easily.

I just got the impression from reading profiles early on that after the peak of the loss, many people gain 5-10 lbs back. I'm not talking about massive gains... just a bit. So I figured losing a bit extra was a good thing.
On the bright side, as soon as I posted, the scales gave me good news and I had lost 3 of the gain the next morning. It was strange though that I had been up for over a week. Go figure any of this....
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone.

I'm having a bit of a problem... My body doesn't know where it wants to be. One day I'm at 136, the next 139. It drives me crazy. When its time for my "auntie" to come around I go up about 5-6 pounds everytime. Then its gone at the end of the week, but this week, it doesn't want to seem to stay away, scale keeps going up and down. I think I just need to stop weighing myself everyday then maybe I wouldn't dwell on it so much.... It seems to be that this is very common, I think everyone one of us will go threw it, with Aunt Flo or without. I know my husband also goes up a pound or 2 then back down...

265/136 reached goal and beyond....
All my dreams have come true, the weight to come off and to see my Dad again.....
Hey Joy!
You're doing great! I think we will all have a couple of pounds that will fluctuate up and down once we get to goal. Just continue to do what you've been doing and you'll be fine.
I am now down 141 lbs. and am weighing in at 232 lbs, where I've been at for a couple of weeks with no movement of the scale. I weighed the other day, and the scale said 256 lbs. I about had a heart attack!!! I got off the scale and turned it off (it's digital). I turned it back on and weighed again, and it was back to 232. What was up with that? LOL, just glad it wasn't correct!
Talk to ya later,
Tammy
Hi Joy,
I always go up and down 2-3 pounds. My loss is usually like this... Lose significantly then up down 2-3 pounds...Lose significantly...up down 2-3 pounds. I figure once I get to goal that I will always have that weight fluctuation. I'm sure it is normal becuase everyone fluctuates a bit with our monthlies and jus****er weight and muscle weight (if you are working out) ... there are alot of reasons why we fluctuate. Don't worry, just hang in there, drink your water and maybe reduce your calories a couple days or something like that. Hang in there
It will level out again
(((hugs)))
