Good morning, Marchers. I've been thinking about next week and pondering how I will handle the day. It will just be the 4 of us, as always, as we have no family nearby. I do the traditional meal and we stuff ourselves silly and watch alot of football (ugggh). I'm thinking I will not worry or stress about what to eat this year. I am thinking to go ahead and cook the meal and share it with my family but on a very moderate scale -- just small amounts of everything -- my favorites are the stuffing (old family recipe) and the pumpkin pie. Small samplings of the whole meal -- that's my plan -- how about you? Of course, I will give thanks the whole day long on this new person I bring to the table -- not just my body, but my mind has changed so much, my outlook on life is so different. I am so very thankful for this opportunity to embrace life and live it to the fullest. What are your thoughts? Maureen

I am going to my sisters. There will be so many of us the food will be around all day and I am making sweet potatoe souffle'. I went to a family dinner at the nursing home with my mom and aunt who both live there on Tuesday night. I did not have any problems but it was a basic Turkey, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce and rolls and salad. My sisters will be different. there will be more dessets and more favorite traditional family foods. However, I know what I need to do, pay attention to my body. Like you, eat small amounts and do not go back. So far, that has not been a big problem for me.

Hi all; I plan on doing what I've been doing on other "Occasions" such as family Birthdays... eat a little bit of everything and listen to what my body tells me. In other words... the same as you plan to do, Maureen!! I aim not to "Gorge" as I did in the "OLD DAYS". I don't see why we can't enjoy a reasonable Thanksgiving without totally sabotaging our program. I suspect that the stuffing or the pumpkin pie or my Mother-in-Law's creamed onions might not sit well with me (SIGH!). I WILL have a good Thanksgiving...... just a more reasonable one. I hope that all of you have a great day and can cope well with all of the "issues"!! Take care and be well. Mike

I'm a school food service manager and we had our Thanksgiving meal today. We feed 740 people. We have 442 kids in our school and their parents are always invited to eat with us. I use the dressing recipe that my grandmother and mother used , I just increased it . I had 1/4 cup of dressing with a little gravy, 2 oz. of turkey and 1 teaspoon of cranberry sauce and about 2 tbsp of sweet potato souf. and I was full so I quit eating. I was just as happy as the ones who ate alot. We can do this and still enjoy our families without eating too much, Y'all have a good Thanksgiving. Judy

I plan on doing thanksgiving the same as every year, BUT this year I will be eating a lot less. I will taste pies and desserts instead of serving my self pieces...I think everything should work out fine. I finally know when enough is enough. Kelley 265/139 reached goal and Beyond!

Well, it will likely just be the 4 of us doing Thanksgiving together so I'm not going to make the whole spread....just the core things we love. But I'm going to eat what I want of it. I will make a sugar free pumpkin pie or SF pumpkin cheesecake so I won't dump, and I'll just enjoy myself. I'm not going to actively try to keep on track for Thanksgiving or Christmas day. I am good the rest of the time and since I have a restricted portion size, I see no reason to not enjoy the good stuff. AND go back for more later that night. At the pace I'll be able to go at, it would take me to Christmas to eat it all anyway! Dina
