L O N G plateau
Started 3/11/04- 308 lbs.
By 8/11/04- lost 102 lbs.
8/11-11/11- lost 0 lbs!
Has anyone else been on such a long plateau? I do fairly well (but not perfect!) with my eating, protein, water, lots of exercise, feel great... but still need to lose around 20-25 lbs...
I'm not stressing about this; if I don't lose another ounce I'll still be thrilled and thankful! I never thought I'd feel this good EVER! But still wonder if I'm done or the loss will kick in again...? I know we all plateau, but has anyone ever heard of resuming loss after this long? I tend to go up and down about 7 lbs....
Any thoughts?

Same here it has been about 2 1/2 mos for me, neither losing or gaining. The only thing I can think of that my body is trying to catch up to all the weight it has lost and is stopped at the moment. The last time this happened I varied my calorie count ( 800 one day 1500 the next etc...) and it seemed to help.
Let me know what works for you
Same with me. I have been the same weight since August go up the same 3-5 pounds and have been wondering if I am done. I just surpassed my surgeons goal of 144 I am 138 and like you if I never loose another pound I will be happy, I am in my goal size of a 6. But to me after having gone through such a surgery to not lose anymore is kind of disappointing.

Robert,
I have lost 118 lbs since 3/15/04 & was on a very long plateau as well,
but believe it or not the reason is you are not eating enough & your body
is holding on to what it thinks it should. Start uping the intake of food
mostly protien & see what happens. I did that and started to lose again.
Your body is going thru the starvation mode & thinks it shoudl keep what you eat. so to get past that you have to eat more. It sound crazy, but
its true. We think we are eating enough, but we are not. Try that &
see what happens/ Good Luck with the endeavor you will get back to
losing, I no you will.

Oh my goodness.... I thought I was the only one. Or maybe I was doing something seroisly wrong. I was working out 2.5 hours/5-6 days a week., but nothing.... so I slacked to see if I could trick by body but no such luck. I've lost 7 pounds since 9/10 and I've been totally depressed. I really believe that we will continue to lose guess we just ahve to stay focused and continue to do what we knos is best. Protein, water and exercise!!
Good luck and keep us posted!!

you're doing GOOD
if you've lost over 200 pounds in 8months. my surgery was the day after yours 03/12/04. I started out at 370 and now weight 290, (sometimes fluctuates to 293)
. what is your secret, I'm happy with 80 pounds but would be estatic if could have lost 200 pounds in such a short amount of time. I too am experiencing a plateau, I havent lost but 3 pounds since my 6 month post-op visit. Again, you're doing GREAT so stop being so hard on yourself

First off...congratulations to each and every one of you!!! Great Jobs with the weight loss!!!
I thought I was the only who hit a wall and I was beginning to worry big time! I started at 386, surgery was March 22, 2004 and I have lost 110 lbs.....111 lbs...113 lbs.....wait no....110 lbs.....the scale has been going up and down anywhere from 1-3 lbs for the past month and a half and it was starting to really scare me
I worry because I now weigh 274-ish and still have so much more to go. My own personal goal is to get to 180, being 5ft 8in and having a big frame I think this would be a healthy weight for me.
I think we will start losing again once our bodies figure out whats going on. Take care and best of luck to you all
