Is This The End?
Maureen - To your doctor I say, "Nonsense Poopypants!" You can do anything you want. Don't let them put anything else in your head.
I've been sorta stalled out for the last month or so. I was bemoaning my woes to three buddies who had surgery a year or more ago. They all told me that at about 6 or 7 months out, they all stalled for a month or so. After talking we all realized that we had stalled at a weight that we had been at for a while before wls. Let me explain. Years ago I lost about 80 pounds by killing myself at the gym and starving. I got to about the weight I'm at now and stayed there for almost a year. According to the buddies, articles that I've read and one of my pcps - everyone has a set point for their weight. This is usually a weight that you have settled at for some period of time. Once you reach that weight, your body remembers being comfortable there and will hold you at that weight for a while. It takes some diligence, effort and focus, but once you get below your set point, the weight should start coming off again. I don't know how true this is, but I'm holding on to this belief and working to get below my set point.
Hang in there. You'll get past this because you're one tough cookie.
Big, big hugs!
Connie
No - you know, we will be going through these ups and downs for awhile, I think. I think you know the answer to this question...especially by now. We can do it if we choose to put the work into it. But it's just no longer the easy little tool it started out to be. Now we have to start dieting again. The thing I'm trying to focus on is that at least the portion control part of the dieting will be easier for me. Now I just need to make the wise food choices....
