I know this is something we don't like to discuss....but....I am so constipated and can't seem to get past it! I drink plenty, but feel that I need a stool softener and laxative. Can anyone recommend something? I do eat mainly protein and very little veggies or anything else....Any help would be appreciated!

Cindy, I take RX Iron and it's main side effect is constipation. As per my docs orders I take 2 pills of Equate Brand Wal-mart Vegetable Laxative (active ingredient Senna) twice a day...morning and at bedtime. No problems with constipation since. Good luck with your journey!! Happy thoughts, Va 5' 3.5" 232/146/1?? -86 pounds -78 inches

My doctor recommended Milk of Magnesia- it works well and is pretty gentle. I also have taken generic Colace- it is a stool softener- there is also a colace with additonal laxative that works well.

Milk of Magnesia works for me! Whatever you decide to take do not take ExLaz. It is way to harsh for us & could damage your pouch, says my Doc. Good Luck. Marilyn, the Bearlady

Milk of mag is great for occasional relief. Colace would be a better choice for daily use. It does not produce a dependency. I think we all fight this battle from time to time. Good luck! Joy

The best thing I have found when I was constipated is to start using Benefiber in a glass of apple juice every other day. To start with, you may want to do three glasses a day until you clean your self out. VAL
