Date of Surgery: March 22, 2004 Type of surgery: Lap RNY Starting weight or amount to lose: 478/278 Current weight or amount lost: 278/200 Longest stall: 3 weeks Amount to lose to get to goal: 78 Do you exercise? What kind?: Up until now it's just been walking. I had nerve and muscle damage during surgery (not their fault, nor because of the type of surgery). I've upped that to walking hilly trails for 5-6 miles at a time. Next week, I will start a weight lifting/aerobic plan. Do you follow a diet plan like low carb?: My surgeon has me on a very specific plan. 2 ounces, 3 times per day and all protein rich. I am also required to have 1 ounce of fruit or vegetable (alternating days) at some point during the day. What is the hardest thing about this for you right now?: As corny as this sounds, there's no trouble for me. Yeah, when the commercials are on, I'd love to get a big burger or a pizza...but that goes away after the commercial goes away. Would you do this again? Absolutely, 100% Even knowing the trouble I'd have because of the anaesthetic. Is there any things you are surprised you can eat now?: For some reason, I can't handle most meats. The only meat I can eat regularly is ground chicken. We think my pouch exit may be small (but not shrinking). I can get down all sorts of other protein sources, so we're not overly concerned.

Ah...misread a question. Suprised I CAN eat: To be honest, after some experimentation with cooking fancy and complex dishes, I soon got bored and went back to my first six week plan. I haven't pushed any boundaries and don't know if I dump. I did ask about and was suprised when I was told I could use my hot sauces. That was important. EC

Amount to lose to get to goal: 35 lbs Do you exercise? What kind?: not consistently Do you follow a diet plan like low carb?:I just try to eat protein first and less carbs What is the hardest thing about this for you right now?:I don't like the bat wings or the jelly belly. It also takes longer to lose now...I know it's normal, so its not a big deal. Would you do this again? Oh yeah! Without a doubt. Is there any things you are surprised you can eat now?:I'm surprised that I can eat any kind of sweet...I've even had a margarita. I've never been addicted to sweets, so I don't mind. I've only had 1 margarita...they aren't worth the calories in my opinion. I'm surprised that I fall asleep if I eat popcorn at the movies and also when I eat tortilla chips. Strange.
