Survey: Okay Marchers - let's share our losses..... I'm curious how much everyone has lost, but in a different way. Please copy and paste this survey! Date of Surgery:3/18/04 Type of surgery:open RNY Starting weight or amount to lose:321 pounds Current weight or amount lost:210 pounds(111 lost) Longest stall: 2 weeks Amount to lose to get to goal: 60 pounds Do you exercise? What kind?:i used to walk at least 2 miles a day and do tae boe 4 times a week. i cant exercise much anymore though. Do you follow a diet plan like low carb?:i just eat my 6 or 8 ounces 3 times a day. making sure they are not high in fat or surgars. the other 3 times a day i eat a snack and i drink about a gallon of water a day. i just add more calories to my diet like every 3 months. What is the hardest thing about this for you right now?:well, i really hate my hangy skin and the fact that i havent gotten it through my thick skull yet that im thinner. i have people who come into my work who havent seen me in months and dont even recognize me and they say how awesome i look. it makes me feel weird because ive never had this kind of attention before and because mentally i still feel obese. like im still 321 pounds. Would you do this again?absolutley...in a heartbeat...wouldnt even have to ask me twice...sign me up!!!! Is there any things you are surprised you can eat now?:well, i like veggies more than i did post op. im more suprised about the things i still CANT eat. meats is a big one. im practically a freakin vegetarian. yeah ok!!!! although i am suprised i can eat salads and raw veggies. Thanks for taking the time! Dina

Hey Dinka! great post! Date of Surgery: 03/09/04 Type of surgery: Lap RNY Starting weight: 286 Current weight: 175 Longest stall: For a month now Amount to lose to get to goal: 40 or 50? Do you exercise? What kind?: I was getting an hour of cardio 5 days a week and weights 4 days a wee****il I tore my rotator cuff. I'm benched until I see a surgeon next week. Just what my thin hair needs - more surgery. Do you follow a diet plan like low carb?: No bread, potatoes or pasta. Protein first. What is the hardest thing about this for you right now?: Making wise food choices. I still want to live on a diet of Cheetos and chips and dip. Would you do this again? In a heartbeat. In fact, I'd do it every year if I had to. Is there any things you are surprised you can eat now?: Not really - I came into this expecting the worst and the best. I can eat almost everything in moderation. Chicken is still not my best friend. Connie

Date of Surgery: 3-24-04 Type of surgery: Lap RNY Starting weight or amount to lose: Start Weight 350 Current weight or amount lost: Current Weight 238 (Loss of 112) Longest stall: Thank heavens I haven't really had a considerable stall yet. My weight loss has slowed down but hasn't really stalled. Amount to lose to get to goal: My personal goal is 170 which would mean that I would need to lose another 68 pounds. My doctor has never even discussed a goal weight for me. I think that's weird! I thought that a goal weight would be set for me from her but it wasn't. Do you exercise? What kind?: I go to Curves 3 times a week and am way more active around the house and in my life in general. I added the Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk to my routine last week so that's an additional workout for me. Do you follow a diet plan like low carb?: I do try to follow a low carb diet. I'm still having issues with my hair falling out so I try like mad to get my protein in. What is the hardest thing about this for you right now?: The hardest thing about this right now is that I still see myself as that same 350lb whale. I know that my old clothes don't even come close to fitting me and I know I feel better but I still see myself as that same really fat person that I was 7 months ago. I hate the skin that is hanging from me. My thighs are terrible. I don't know how my hubby even wants to lay a hand on me when I'm naked (YUCK!!). Of course, I also have the skin hanging under my arms (I get weighed and measured every month at Curves and they have not gotten any smaller with all of this weight loss so it's apparently a surgical issue). My belly hangs...eww..I guess I am just hangin' all over. Would you do this again? I would absolutely do this again. It's a blessing and I thank God that he gave me this opportunity to get healthy. Is there any things you are surprised you can eat now?: I can eat almost anything. Sugary foods don't bother me and I wish that they did. I got sick on beef roast at about 3 months post op so I'm scared to try any kind of beef besides ground beef. I got sick on cereal at 2-3 months post op so I'm scared to try it again as well.
