Looking ahead - the second 6 months

I have looked through several profiles and it seems like the average weight loss during the second 6 months is about half of the loss during the first six months. The only exception is those that came close to goal in the first 6 months. So... if you are afraid you are done, YOU ARE NOT! I did not find a single profile that showed loss stopping permanently in 6 months for those still needing to lose. Stalls are very common though, and the dramatic losses are slowing down. I am losing very slowly now (3-5 lbs per month), but the funny thing about it is that more people are noticing the day to day changes. I think a pound just means more, the more I lose. Perhaps I am still losing the same percent of fat. I would still like to lose another 20-25 lbs, but if I never lose another ounce, it has been worth it! If I follow the pattern, I should lose that by my one-year anniversary without a problem though! Joy

You will do it, I know you will!! I hope your research is true for me -- that means I would lose another fifty pounds in the next six months. I would only have fifty to go on my 1 year anniversary, and that would be fantastic. Tammy

Joy, I too hope the research is right as I would be very excited to see myself at goal in one year. If things go that way I will be there. I have 35 more to go and I think that is a realistic goal. At my 6 mos check I had lost 110 and so I needed to loose 4o more and now less than a month later, I am down antoehr 5 so I think I will make it. I feel as you do though, if this is it, thats just great with me!!! I dont regret this for one minute. Well, maybe one minute when I see a beautiful looking cheesecake! But any other time I am pleased as can be with the loss so far. Best wishes, Janelle

Joy, Thank you sooooo much for you post, I was just about to post something on how my weight lose is slowing down. I have lost 100 lbs but it seems like it is slowing, but you are right I will see someone and see them a week later and they tell me they see another change. I still have about 65 lbs to go and my family lives away from me so when they call It seems like it took me forever to get from 95 to 100 and it was a brezze to get to 95lbs. Oh well I am pressing on. Good Luck with you weight lose. Rhen

Funny how quickly we got used to the dramatic losses. I used to feel quite successful with a steady 3 lb per month loss! (That is still 36 lbs per year!) My checkbook welcomes the slowdown--I can't afford to start over on my wardrobe for a while! Joy -67 and still losing!
