Three year post
Golly...it seems like yesterday and a decade ago, all at the same time. I'm holding at a size 4/6, my weight fluctuates between the same 2 or 3 pounds. Protein is my only true friend, the drinkable kind and meats of just about any variety, excluding sausage it's a texture thing. I do between 60 to 90 grams of supplemental protein every day. I journal my food, count calories and weigh every morning. I know it's obsessive...yes I have control issues...
I've been pretty much MIA from the board since DH had a cardiac event just before Christmas which resulted in him having a quadruple bypass and a mitral valve repair 6 weeks ago today. Heart surgery ain't for sissy's - for the patient or the caregiver!! That stress totally kicked my skinny butt big time!!! He's on the mend and I'm ready for him to not be underfoot every second of the day and night! I'm hoping he'll go back to work half days in about two more weeks. It'll be good for both of us.
Hope everyone is Happy and Healthy!!

Happy Anniversary Va!
It's good to hear from you although I'm sorry that you and the other half of the team have had such a hard time of late. In some ways, I think that it's harder to be the care-giver than the patient!! I hope that life gets back to some measure of sanity for you soon. Take care and please stay in touch.

Wow - what a rough ride you've had recently Va! It sounds like your DH is on the mend though, so that is a good thing!
You do sound like you are keeping serious on keeping the lbs off - good for you! I know it's easy to go from one extreme to another, but as long as your eye is on health, how can that be a bad thing? As for weighing every day, I know some people knock those of us who do that, but it's a personal thing. I find when I fail to weigh every day, I will start to put pounds on again. This keeps me aware of where I am at and what I am doing. If you let it go long enough, those lbs creep up on you quickly. Pretty soon 5 lbs is 10 lbs...then it's 20. I don't want that kind of struggle again.
I did also read an article not too long ago about how those who weighed daily had better long term success than those that didn't. So I don't apologize for it. It's what I need to do to keep myself honest!

Va, your post is a stark reminder of how life continues to press on - the good and the bad of it - no matter what size we are. Here's a big fat bundle of best wishes and good, positive thoughts for you and your husband to heal from this latest ordeal. And congratulations on the vigilence you ascribe to staying healthy and keeping the weight off! This is precisely the kind of information I need to keep going! I agree with Dina (and I read the same article) about those who weigh every day have better long term success than those that don't. I weigh myself every morning - it keeps me accountable, especially during those times when my food intake becomes sloppy. I'm very proud of you and I am so thankful for your presence on our Board - always such a stable voice of reason and good common sense - while at the same time you exude strong support for each and every one of us. Thank you - and please post whenever you can. M.
