Lungs Help

I was just approved for Surgery yesterday. I have Ekg and Xray of my Heart done . I' m doing the Blood test Fri. 24 hours Fast. I already did the Sleep Study. Tues I have to see a Lung doctor . My doctor said he has to get my Lungs to where they are suppose to be at. Has anyone have to work on their lungs before surgery???? How long do you think it will take? Help I have Kaisers insurance Getting Nervous

I didnt have any lung "work" but I did have pretty extensive testing. I am sure this is just a safety precaution. Best to you, Andie

what kind of lung work? did you already do your lung test? maybe it didnt come out so well and now he wants you to do some breathing exercises. when i had my first surgery date for last sept...i didnt do very well on those tests...then again i was a smoker. they told me to quit...and i did. are you a smoker? if so quit now! i had to do some breathing exercises with the incentive spirometer. when i did the test again for my march date i did a lot better. you want your lungs in good shape for the surgery so do whatever they want. good luck!
