Hi Marchers....... I was just wondering....I know that I would at least have to wait to get to my goal weight. Has anyone talked to their doctor about it yet???? I have not hit the 100 pound mark yet but My God....My breast are reallly bad!!!! They look like french bread hanging from my chest. Edna 255/172/???

Edna~ I'm a "lurker" but sometimes will respond to people who are in similar boats as I am. I just got my referral to a plastic surgeon on Tuesday (9/14). My doctor said that while they LIKE to see people at their ideal weight, they take a serious look at where the weight is coming from in each situation. And in my case, being within 20lbs of ideal, about 20lbs of that is "skin" and "settled fat". In otherwards, it's just all leftovers, and my "girls" aren't going to get much smaller! Luckily, I have a super-fantastic, young female doctor who is all about doing what's right for ME as an individual. She's said "no" to a lot of my hairbrained ideas, however was receptive to the plastic surgery one. I would say that each MD probably has their own "advice" on when it's okay to do. Ask yours and see what they say. Or heck, go on the internet, seach Plastic Surgeons and email questions to their website. They LIKE the potential business and will typically answer you back pretty quickly. Oh, and just for chuckles, mine resemble fried eggs hanging on a nail! It's just plain sad. Good thing I'm a hottie otherwise and give 'em a whole buffet of what to look at otherwise! I'm glad to hear that we're all so close in situations and that you all understand my every thought so well. You have done WONDERFULLY with your WLS and I certainly wish you the best of luck on your continued success. Thanks for asking such an informational question! I can't wait to see what advise you get...as I'm interested myself as to enhance my own decision. Have a SUPER day! Kim 312/186/170

heh... yeah im all saggy too! I look at it this way... First I want to wait until I have another child. Second once thats done I want to have lost ALL the weight that I feel is right... Be at goal or a few pounds above goal is fine (counting the extra pounds as extra skin they will be taking off) only then will I want to have it because I want to be sure that I wont defeat the purpose and not have lost all the weight and then have sagging skin again after surgery...you know. So I guess it would vary on each individual, based on how much weight they needed to loose and how much time it would take them. Some just a year maybe even less if they were lightweight to start...some a little over a year. I wish you the best of luck!!! -- If you are at goal already-- I hear one year is the time frame. Not sure why...but maybe for the body to heal? Im not sure Elizabeth M
