Present and accounted for!
I haven't posted for a couple of days, but not to worry, I haven't missed the gym routine! Saturday I did 30 minutes on the bike and 3 rounds on the circuit (a full 3 rounds .. not just 2 and a 3rd on the pieces I like .. ) Sunday we headed to the RV show. That was a let down. The show was perfect for families looking for pop ups and towables, but not so good for those of us in the 'bus' category. The weather was icky (snowing) and even some of the campground displays either didn't show up or were packing it in early. Monday it was 5 a.m. to the gym for 35 minutes on the treadmill. Tuesday ... 3 rounds on the circuit (well .. 2 full rounds and 9 of 11 machines the 3rd time around .. I left off the leg lifts and seated leg curls). I am finding that I am increasing the weights and feeling very confident with the circuit. This morning was 30 minutes of rowing .. I can definitely feel that in my upper arms/shoulders.
Outside of the exercise, I am excited about my newest purchase! I have always lusted after a full length RED leather dress coat. This is an obsession that predates WLS even. I had promised myself that when I reached goal (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) I would get my coat. Of course, you see long black coats every where, but red is hard to come by. I had a class yesterday, and I had stayed late on Monday night to finish some things up in the quiet time after 4:30, so I took some 'me' time after class instead of heading back to the office. I stopped at my favorite thrift store and found the most gorgeous RED leather long coat. It is a bit snug over the mid-section (the pounds I've gained I am sure ) but other than that it fit perfectly. The most exciting part of it all was the cost. This is an upscale thrift store so things can be pricey for a second hand store .. the coat was marked $150. I tried it on .. put it back .. tried it on .. put it back .. and so on .. the woman at the counter kept telling me how beautiful it looked on me .. and I agreed but didn't want to spend $150 on it ... when I mentioned the price to her .. she pointed out the sign on the rack that said that winter coats were 50% off. Sooooooo .. I have my DREAM coat for $75. Now I just need it to stay cool-ish for a few weeks so I can get some wear out of it before I put it away til next year
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hi Mo......
I'm glad to hear that you have gotten your "dream coat". Something like that is much more than a piece of your wardrobe......it's an important milestone in becoming what and who you want to be. I'm not a big clothes horse, but there are 2 things that I have wanted for many years and avoided because I didn't want them on my fat body: One is a nice leather jacket and the other is a hand-knit Irish sweater. I haven't gotten the leather yet, but I recently got the sweater. My wife is a "fiber fanatic" and a terrific "needle witch" (her term, not mine). She spins her own yarn for many projects and has always wanted to knit a sweater for me. I never wanted her to spend the time knitting a huge sweater for the old me. I figured that it would be a waste of her time and we'd need to shear a whole flock of sheep to cover my big ass!! Also, I was always over-heated in those days and wouldn't have worn it much anyway.
Well.....this year, I attained a reasonable size and I'm affected by the cold enough to justify the labor. I picked out a nice natural brown fleece at a "sheep and wool" craft fair this summer and my wife got to work. She washed, carded, spun and plied the yarn and got to work knitting. I now have a beautiful and extremely warm hand-knit Irish sweater!! It was a true labor of love and something I'll probably enjoy for the rest of my life. Now.......as for the leather jacket.....stay tuned.....
Mike
Mike,
I bet that is a beautiful sweater! I have knit many an 'irish' knit sweater but never did the whole 'from the sheep' thing with the yarn. You are making me thing I should take up knitting again .. though I'm not sure the arthritic fingers can take it.
I'm sure you will get your jacket! The right one just hasn't come along yet.
