IT WILL BE SIX MONTHS SOON AN I'VE LOST ABOUT 91-96 POUNDS. HOWEVER I'M SWEATING BULLETS BECAUSE I CAN EAT SWEETS. I MEAN I CAN EAT THEM REALLY GOOD. I WENT TO THE MOVIES AND ATE ABOUT 10-15 MINI REESE CHOCOLATES. HELP ME PLEASE!! THIS IS HOW I GOT FAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. I CAN'T EVEN EAT FOOD AS GOOD AS I CAN EAT SWEETS. IN FACT I REALLY DON'T EAT MUCH BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE TO FEEL SOO FULL. WHY DON'T I GET THE DUMPING FEELING LIKE I DID IN THE BEGINING? I'M NOT ON ANY KIND OF DIET I'VE JUST BEEN WATCHING WHAT I EAT. SHOULD I BE ON A DIET? IF SO WHAT KIND. I REALLY WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN MY WEIGHT LOSS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Tamera: I understand your plight, I really do, but you do know what to do! Put down the sweets and make the choice to let them go! You didn't have surgery to go backwards. I can eat sweets, and honestly, sweets are not the enemy. Choose what you do, but choose wisely. Eat with your head not your stomach. I think it is odd that I can eat more junk food and not feel full, and yet when it comes to protein and other foods, I get full rather easy. But the truth is I have to make the choice. When I had surgery I was determined to not go backwards. You join the train girl, don't go backwards, but move forward and do good things for your body. Have a bite or two now and then, but you control it, don't let it control you. It IS your choice. Don't go backwards! I find I crave sweets less if I keep my protein up and also have fruit regularly. These things help me. I also stay away from pop. I love pop, but it is an enemy of the pouch, so I don't touch it. I wish you well as you strive to gain control of this area. We are all in this together. In the battle with you, Patty

Hi, Tamera! I am a revision to RNY from a VGB. One of the reasons I gained most of my weight back (and didn't lose much in the first place) was because I had a stricture and my stomach was almost closed. This was missed for over 10 years. I could eat sweets and most carbs like cookies etc because they disolve almost to nothing because of the sugar content. These things will go down easily and empty from the pouch quickly. Unfortunately, the sugars etc are quickly absorbed. Protein, however, is denser and fills up the pouch quicker and stays longer. Protein, vegetables and fruit in that order should be your "diet" or should I say way of eating. Did your surgeon give you a plan? Good luck. This isn't easy but will be worth it. However, we must do what we must do. The surgery is not a cure but a tool and sometimes it is a hard one to use. I struggle with this every day. Take care, Grins, Kaye

I know your doctor told this surgery is only a tool...you have to use it properly to achieve your objective. I am also a RNY revision of the VGB and I have learned so much...the hard part is up to you.... It's not fun but we have decisions to make. It sounds like you have to make one now...good luck. We're all pulling for you...

THATS EXACTLY WHY i DON'T EVEN WANT TO GO THERE!! wHY WOULD YOU EVEN WANT TO TRY AND SEE IF YOU CAN EAT THEM. aS LONG AS i DON'T KNOW, THEY ARE STILL POISON TO ME. STOP NOW, DON'T EVEN GO BACK FOR MORE. I NO THAT AT 6 MONTHS EVERYTHING IS A LITTLE HARDER. I AM GOING THRU THE SAME THING RIGHT NOW. BUT STOP THE MADNESS NOW, DON'T LET IT GET YOU BACK IN YOUR OLD HABITS. JUST BECAUSE YOU COULD EAT THEM TODAY, DOESN'T MEAN TOMORROW THEY WON'T MAKE YOU SICKER THAN A DOG. THINK THAT WAY & MAYBE YOU CAN REVERT BACK TO WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING RIGHT!!! HANG IN THERE!!! Marilyn, the bearlady

A friend of mine "re-set" her dump-ometer by skipping all sugar for a week. Apparently she let sugar creep in gradually and developed a tolerance. Also, you can lessen dumping by eating sweets on top of proetin. Don't do it.

Tamera, I can eat sweets too. If I have too too much I will feel nauseous though. So far I think the best advice is to go on a sweets fast. No sweets for a long time so that your dumping thing kicks back into gear. BUT also what I suggest, and find to work, is a little trick that I do... If there IS something that makes you dump (for me creamy soups or something of that nature) If I get the sweet craving or carb craving and feel that I am eating too much and cant control it, I will stop... eat some creamy soup (or whatever makes you feel nauseous) and then that will stop the madness in its tracks...because you dont want to eat or do anything when that dumping nausea kicks into gear. just a tip... see if that may help at all. I wish you the best! Elizabeth M
