I told you all that I would make an effort to get by here more often and let you know I'm ok. I'm a bit beat down now. I pulled an extra duty shift by providing security at a high school BB game, then went out on the streets for nine hours. I only mention this because I then caught a cold, and it is kicking my tail. I know we have to be careful in what we take, so I have looked for much but has anybody found anything that works for colds? I really haven't had more then two over the last three years so any help would be appreciated because I feel like a big, steamy pile of doo doo.
On the fun side of things I made a huge goal for myself. I signed up to run a half marathon in June. So come June 30th send all you good vibes my way. At 6:30 am I'll begin my 13.1 miles winding along the beautiful River's Edge Trail boardering the Missour River and crossing paths where Lewis and Clark once trode. I hope to do it in just over two hours. You see, I'm doing this because the Dawg turns 40 this year. I want to run a half and I'm going to do the Tour De Cure again this year and I'm going to do the 100 mile ride instead of just the 40 miles. And that brings me back to the extra shifts. My wife is been given the chance to go to France for three weeks this summer, I want a new road bike, and I still have three daughters. In other words, major cash outflows and I will not put it on credit. I already purchased 2000 in Euros as a surprise for my wife. This will be her "mad money", so I bought now figuring with interest over the next four months I should be able to hand her over a nice amount to have fun with.
So, I have to be honest. I didin't really lurk this time, other then to find out that Dina is doing ok so I hope the rest of you are doing well too. I'll try to get back and check up on everybody before too long. Take care, live life and run with the dawg!
Hey There Dawg. it has been awhile.sorry I don't have much help with the cold thing, as I have a nasty one as well & nothing seems to be helping it much. I took the day off & just
vegged out, that has helped more than anything. I know you don't always have spare time to do that, but it does help.
Get lots of rest & drink, drink, drink those fluids. Take lots
of Vit c that seemed to help mine since yesterday. It is good to here your ramblings & great luck to you with you upcoming runs. You are truly an inspiration to all of us Marchers. Keep on Truckin & I hope you feel better soon!!

Feel better! I haven't really been sick since surgery so can't offer any words of wisdom on this. Terrific news about your plans for the run - I'll be cheering curbside even if only in spirit. Might just have to step up given your goals, I'm gonna check out a charity run and commit to it as well. Keep me posted on your Tour de Cure and let me know how I can sponsor you - you are such an inspiration! Take care and stay close - M.
Thank for the advice, I took DayQuil and am feeling somewhat human again. I appreciate the advice.
One bit of sad news, the Tour De Cure changed format this year. Due to the poor weather last year. ( We had horrible wind, I have a firend who rides a ton who said it was the hardest ride he had ever made) they have moved it indoors on March 31st. I'll be damned if I going to sit on a staionary bike for 100 miles. Instead, I going to pledge to ride the entire course for Helena, Montana to Great Falls, Montana for the Law Enforcement Torch run. It is 91 miles and it will be a challenge. I have taken part in it the past two years, but have only ridden for portions. I'll ride the whole thing.
Hey there! Good to hear your life is busy but sucks that you are sick. I was sick last week - killed me, the flu bug with 102 fever for 3 days. The only thing I did was Nyquil and I slept through it all. I didn't even try the Dayquil....I figured with the fever I wasn't going anywhere except to bed. It helped me sleep through it though.
I don't blame you for not wanting to ride a stationary bike. I love riding bikes but HATE the stationary ones. The whole point to me of riding is to see the scenery!
