Feeling dizzy

OK I went through this a few months ago but for the life of me, I can not remember what the cause of my dizziness was. I went to the doctor and he said it could be inner ear but I remember thinking that wasn't it. But I don't remember what it was. It has been going on for a few days. I think it may be due to either not eating enough of drinking enough. Anyone have any ideas about what could be causing my dizziness? I am going to run to the grocery store today to see if my blood pressure is too low. I hate this because when I close my eyes, I feel like I am spinning. Nic

You probably need to increase your fluids. It happened to me once and I thought I was getting enough. Drink at least 1.5 quarts today. Good luck. Louise

Oh My Gosh!!!! I am feeling the same exact way!!! For a while now!!! ESPECIALLY when I close my eyes or lay down the place spins. Its a strange feeling...sortof like being light headed or...something it doesnt make me nauseous though. My surgeon told me the same exact thing too that it wasnt them and maybe it was an inner ear infection and that I should go to my PCP. Now I am wondering if it is surgery related in some way. yikes! My labs came back fine so I am not lacking iron like I thought it was...sooo... next stop is my pcp! Im right there with you Nic! Elizabeth M

I have the same problem on and off. I notice it sometimes lying down and sometimes when I stand up from a sitting position too quickly. I was told it is caused by low blood volume--aggravated by slight dehydration. In other words, I need to drink more. Indeed, that does help. I hope it works for you too! Joy

Dizziness and lightheadedness are signs of Low Blood Pressure. Thats what was wrong with me. I have been getting dizzy and lightheaded for awhile. Everyone said it was because I was not eating right, duh I am not eating like others cuz I just had this surgery. Well I about passed out at work last monday, went home early and to the doc the next day. My BP was 90/60 way to low for me. I was over medicated on my BP meds so the doc cut them way down and I am back to normal now. So heres a tip for all of you post ops check your BP regularly and reduce your BP meds if needed, as always consult with your physician first.

Good tip. Unfortunately, I have never had to take BP meds. Mine is running about 90/60 also--unmedicated! Do they have meds to make it higher?? I had blood work done in preparation for my 6 month post WLS checkup. Perhaps something will show up there, but I hope not! You are doing great, Mark! Joy

Mine was borderline anemia coupled with low potassium (which probably caused low blood pressure). V8 comes to my rescue when I need a shot of potassium. The low sodium version, although not as salty as I like, is just loaded with potassium....and it works quick! Dina
