My update....
Well, I remain a slow loser and have as of yesterday only lost 72 lbs. It's better than gaining it, so I'm not getting too worked up. But it is disconcerting when many people who started out much heavier than me are now weighing less than me....and some are at goal already. At this rate it will take me 13 months to get to goal, and I suspect that it will be more like 18 months since the rate of loss slows as time goes on, plus I know I am facing a major stall in the future of a month or more.
My hair loss is tremendous and I think I'm going to have to get my hair cut. I really didn't want to as I like it long, but it's just looking horrid. I think I have lost about 1/2 to 2/3rds of my hair already. I do notice the rate of loss is slowing down slightly, but not enough if you ask me. I know I have new growth though because when I pull it back and try to smooth it down, I have 1 and 2 inch tendrils of hair that stick out all over and frizz. Ugh.
Other than the female problems, I am feeling pretty good. I don't have food issues to speak of, but I do notice that I'm dumping more lately on things I haven't had a problem with before. I never knew if I was sensitive to fat or not for the longest time because I never ate a lot, but I think I am seeing that I am. Cheese seems to be one of those things that makes me dump, but I still haven't ruled out other causes, so it's not completely off limits just yet.
Anyway, that is my update. I've been keeping extremely busy with work, overtime, projects, meetings and family. Glad I'm able to not be in so much pain while I do these things!

Dear Dina:
Thanks for the update and 72 pounds lost is terrific. Yes others are losing faster but it is still a good loss.
My DD lost a lot of her hair after wls and it has now grown back. It is frizzy and curly but it is my understanding that in a year it should be back to normal.
Don't get discouraged because once you get under 200 you are going to see and feel amazing and wonderful differences. Every day will feel like your birthday.
So hang in there - the best is yet to come.
Louise
Do you know what would be a "reasonable" amount of weight loss per month? I know in the beginning things are going a lot faster. But I, too, have slowed down a lot. I have been eating out more and probably not taking in enough water but I really would like to know where I can go to get a scale as to how the weight loss should be progressing at this point. Any help you could give would be SOOO appreciated. I had my RNY on 031604 and I was down as of 060804, 48 pounds. I think, now I am around 52-53 pounds. It has been a little discouraging but I am about to kick up the aerobic exercise. I had been taking aquatics (water aerobics) but I just don't think that is doing what I need right now. Please help!!!
Dina,
72 lbs is gone for ever (just remember that) You are doing good. try
to drink more water & less carbs & lower your fat intake & you will start losing again.
I was at a stand still for 2 weeks (stuck at 85 lbs) I up'd my water
& cut back on the carbs to just about nil & woo hoo, the plateau finally
broke & am now down 90 lbs. I only eat 3 time a day and only 4 - 5 oz at a time. I try not to snack, but with the hours I have been working
lately thats kind of hard not to. Hang in there, You will be losing again
in no time.

Dina! 72 pounds is awesome! Ive lost just 76 myself. we are right along the same page and DARN! see this is why I like the march board because alot of us are going through the same things as each month passes... OH YEAH FRIZZ CENTRAL HERE!
I am loosing mad hair! I want it to stop!
AND AND AND (yeah I know getting to overly excited
) I have noticed dumping differences here as well with cheese even!!! Also some cream soups I cannot even taste them anymore. before I use to just get a tiny bit nauseous now (last night actually) I had a little cream soup and ate about 3 tablespoons and I go so sick
that was bad. Hey as long as we get all this weight off I can deal with 12 or 13 months till goal! Hey we are GOING to reach goal! Everyone is different so I know its hard not to get discouraged...I feel the uneasiness in my tummy when I read the posts of how people are doing so much better and I have to try hard not to let it get to me...but Im just different and built different and my system is just different and theres nothing I can do about it so I am focusing on me and i'll get there you know.
you will too!
You hang in there ! ((hugs)) And congrats on the weight loss so far!
Elizabeth M
